I recently purchased android tablet (Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE 5G) to replace one of the apple tablet we use for KDS (Square KDS). This table is equipped with 5G network, so I was hoping it would still receive and print tickets when we lose wifi signal. And it does. However, it cannot be sent (or printed) on the Sticky Label Printer, Star TSP654IISK, without wifi turned on. The printer model requires ethernet cable connected thus wifi signal. I am trying to make some of my print stations 5G network capable, since sometimes wifi signal can be down due to whatever reason. Do they have sticky label printer that works via Bluetooth in case wifi signal drops down? (also it has be compatible with Android tablet)
Hi @hoobyu81 - Thanks for reaching out to us here on the Square Seller Community.
I pulled the following information from this Support Article on "How to Print Item Labels": "To set up sticky label printing, you will need a Star Micronics TSP654IISK or Star Micronics TSP654SK."
I don't believe other models of sticky label printers will be compatible. From what you've described, it sounds like you're unable to send orders to your current printer because all the devices are not on the WiFi network at the same time, which is how your devices are able to communicate to one another.
I hope this information is helpful but please do let me know if you have any additional questions.
Are there any printers for sticky label that runs on USB or Bluetooth? Or just those two models you mentioned above?
I took a look at the Star Micronics site. It looks like they offer a Bluetooth and USB option for the TSP654IISK Thermal Printer.
