Barcode Scanner beeping but not adding to cart

We have a 2D barcode scanner hardwired to the POS. When you scan an item it beeps but doesn’t add it to the car or look it up. You have to first click on the POS in the item search bar, then scan, then click the item to add it to the cart. The scanner is clearly talking to the POS but why doesn’t it just scan and add to cart?

Which POS system do you have?

1. Stand
2. Terminal
3. Register
4. Cellular or Tablet
5. or using the Vertual Terminal?

On a Stand it should automatically populate. On Android Devices what your doing is normal behavior.

With some 2D scanners you can scan a code to switch from IOS to Android type inputs to.   You would need to read the manual to find these codes.  Yes I know it is communicating but might be communicating as the wrong type, which is why it beeps then when you tap search it scan the number there.

I believe so but I am not 100% sure.  I have this issue when I connect my Scanner to an Ipad by Bluetooth.  When I connect my scanner by USB to the Square Stand it works like you are expecting it to.
