Ability to schedule sales taxes - Public Holidays / Weekends

Hi there,

Like most hospitality businesses in Australia, there is generally a surchage during public holidays and / or weekends

I'm well aware we can activate a desactivate a sales tax to achieve that outcome, however it is a manual process and relies on someone not making a mistake!

It is necessary for us to be able to schedule a sales tax to be active on certain dates, this way we could preplan on which date a sales tax applies. This would avoid relying on people to activate and desactivate on a specific date,

Additionally, anyone we put in charge of this has to be given full access to the square account, which is not what we usually want.

This does seem like a major missing feature in our eyes, but what do you guys think? Or maybe we are missing something?

Cheers,

Orion

Hi @tbeleven,

Thanks for reaching out. Surcharging is a very popular feature request for Square, and it's something we're in the process of building out. We started to roll out Service Charges (AKA Surcharges) in Australia earlier this year, which you can read more about here. The first iteration supports:

  • The Square Point of Sale app
  • Manually applied fixed ($) or variable (%) surcharges

In future iterations of Service Charges we hope to support:

  • More Square products (eg Square for Restaurants, Square for Retail, Invoices etc)
  • Automated service charges, so you won't need to manually add it

If you'd like, you can also add your voice to our main feature request thread here - though rest assured that we're aware of the demand and hope to roll out further surcharging features as soon as possible.
