website not coming up in any search

I have followed all the set up instructions.

I can not for the life of me, get my website to show in any search, anywhere.

I have been pouring hours in for months trying to improve my website, working on SEO, making sure everything is filled in everywhere and then rechecking.

everything is set to visible. google analytics, google verification done.

even searching my business name, every social media post for YEARS comes up as well as defunct etsy pages but ive gone 12 pages deep and the website is no where.

someone please help me. i am so frustrated and confused.

ETA: ongoing indexing issues are no H1 and 2 meta tags. i can not find any way to fix the H1 and i have no idea where the 2nd tag could be since there is only one place to fill it in.

you can put the whole url into search and the site does not come up.

Thank you.  Sorry for the delay in replying here.  @TheRealChipA covered quite a few bases though..  I can't speak for a Square website as I don't use that but I believe that he is 100% correct about the upgraded domain name. to get rid of the .square.site portion of it.  Not only should it help with SEO, but also does look more professional.  I would definitely sign up for Google search console, and get your site listed in there so like Chip mentioned you can force crawl pages with the click of a button.  I ran your site through Google speed test, and although its not as full as Search Console, your SEO was actually given a 92.  Your page speed & performance though could actually use the work.  You can use the Page speed test here from Google.

WIth any site hosting, you are limited to what you can and cannot change.  It is one of the downfalls of any of these "builder" type websites.  You can sign up and link a free Cloudflare account to your site that will improve your speed dramatically though, which in turn will help on the SEO front.

Let me know if you want some guidance on that part!

If i cant create H1 tags, how do i ever get any of this to ever work??

Specific issues Bing is screaming at me about on category pages:

-H1 tags missing from every category page and i see no way to add H1 tags

-2 meta descriptions on every page. i have no idea how i could have added more than one since there is only one place to put this on each category page

- Alt attribute for image missing. i have checked repeatedly every image on every category page. they all have alt text.

Hey @middlemerch.. First questions I have -- how long has your site be active?  Also, how long ago did you update the biggest part of your SEO?  I ask because it can quite often a few weeks -- even up to a month -- for the various search engines to crawl new sites and index them, if you don't try to force them to do so.  Even then, you won't immediately be in the first few pages of search results.  This takes time even after you do all that you can.

A few things I did over a decade ago with my new site.  First, I did lots of link-trading with local business groups and businesses in my neighborhood.  We all linked to each other.  The search engines love that sort of thing.  The more times your site URL is shared on other sites -- other businesses, business groups, new sites, etc -- the higher you will be in the returned results.  Sadly, this is totally a function of time.

Another thing I have always done is to sign up for Google alerts whenever my business name is mentioned.  In my case, I ask for alerts like "Piper's", "Piper's Soft Serve", "Piper's Ice Cream", etc.  Yes I get alerts anytime the name Piper's is mentioned, but that's not a bad thing.  When I get an alert, I know that Google has crawled those pages and takes those into account in my search result ranking.

It also helps to claim all listings -- Google, Bing, Yelp, TripAdvisor, etc, etc, etc.  That will create activity for those pages that reference your website.

One other thing.  When you can swing it, you will find that custom URLs are treated very differently by the search engines than Square free subdomains.  I'm sure they have a good reason for this, though I'm not sure what that reason is.  I just know that it is true.

As @gbwats mentioned, create accounts with Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools.  Once you do you can submit a forced request for the bot crawlers to index your site which should accelerate the process.  Also, if you do this, you'll be notified anytime your site has indexing issues so that you can hopefully resolve those.

the ongoing indexing issues are

-H1 tags missing from every category page and i see no way to add H1 tags

-2 meta descriptions on every page. i have no idea how i could have added more than one since there is only one place to put this on each category page
