website SEO

I've run out of things to try. I have a Square Online ecommerce site that I built back in January (8 months ago now), and it has not had a single visitor. When I search for the URL on Bing, it isn't found. It is found on Google, but only if I search for the URL directly, not with any keyword search. I cannot get the Bing search engine to index my URL. Bing Webmaster Tools says that I need to add a header to the page by using a <h1> tag and place it within the <body> of the page source. I read through all the SEO information and set up everything that was suggested. I contacted support and they told me to use the Embed code feature, which I did, but it still won't add the <h1> tag to the BODY, which is where I need to add it. I'm still using the free website builder, but I have paid an extra $12 a month to use my custom domain address, which I am really regretting now. I sure don't see the point in throwing good money after bad to upgrade to the paid subscription if I can't resolve this issue anyway.

Does anyone know how I can fix this? I would greatly appreciate any and all suggestions. I'm getting really close to just cutting my losses and moving to a different ecommerce website service.

HI, Can you please share a screenshot or link?

Have you reviewed your Google Requirements?  Google will DELIST YOU if you are not meeting their requirements.

Have you tried promoting your items on TikTok?  Are your items very common or unique?

(*edited: mistook for a different poster, my apologies.)

Hope this helps.

Hi Terri - Thanks for your reply. I'm using Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest and redirect links from my other website, but not TikTok. My website is https://www.thumbwickminiatures.com.

Yesterday I tried shortening the page titles of my individual item pages, and today I was able to find one page with Bing search engine, so I may be making some headway finally.

HI, definitely not common.  Do you make these?  So many avenues you can try.  A page featuring how you make them.  Promote the products you use.  Make use of descriptive words, handmade, wood, antique, Colonial?, furniture, etc.  Combine the Thumbwick and the Miniature websites.  Having 2 of the same may also be hurting your SEO.  Google will recognize a duplicate.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for the great suggestions! I sell my handmade and customized dollhouse items on my Etsy site, but I wanted a separate ecommerce site to sell factory-produced miniatures, which is not allowed by Etsy.

My www.thumbwick.com site is for dollhouse miniatures inspiration, decorating tips and DIY ideas.

My www.thumbwickminiatures.com site is for reselling mass-produced miniatures that I find for a good discount.

My www.etsy.com/shop/thumbwick site is for selling the items I make by hand. I like the idea that Etsy tries to keep their offerings to handmade and vintage, although they don't always police their sites the best. My understanding is that Amazon Handmade is a lot more "flexible" about what they consider to be handmade. It's hard to price truly handmade items high enough to include the time spent to make them, when you are competing with mass-produced items.

What code you trying to add?

I use this:    <h1 style="text-align:center;font-size:28px;letter-spacing:0.001em;line-height:1.95;margin-bottom: 8px; font-family:'Arial', sans-serif;font-weight: 600"> NOMADIC BACKPACKER</h1>    works a treat

I was trying to use my own URL: www.thumwickminiatures.com for my square ecommerce site, but I was never able to make it work to get search engines to pick it up. I even spent $70 to upgrade my site for a year, but it didn't make a difference. None of my social media attempts resulted in traffic to my site and I never made a single sale (except for the one I put in to make sure everything was working). I gave up and got rid of my Square Online site. I'm just using Etsy now and have much more success. I'm sure Square Online works for others, but I'm just not savvy enough to make it work for me. I don't have the time to try to configure everything.

Thanks for sharing the information. Best of luck to you!
