transfering from shopify to free square online store

I am currently with shopify and have a free online store set up.  I want to change the dns records at register.com to point to the new free online store.  How do I do that.  Register.com help says I need to ask square for the proper dns records.  https://kricklewood-farm-inc.square.site/ 

Any help would be appreciated.

I suggest connecting your third-party domain to your Square website before transferring the domain, to minimize any potential down time. It's also important to note that you'll need to upgrade to a paid Square Online plan to use a custom domain. 

Connect your domain

Depending on your domain host, you'll have the choice to either connect the domain automatically or manually. The DNS details will be displayed in a pop-up window if you choose the latest, so you can share it with your domain provider. In your Online Overview Page:

1. go to Website > Domains.
2. Select Connect domain.
3. Under Use a domain I own elsewhere, type in your domain name and select Verify.
4. Select Connect automatically or manually.

It should take 24h-48h to populate, and you'll find more information about connecting a third-party domain on our Support Center.

Transfer your domain to Square

1. From your Square Online Overview page, go to Website > Domains.
2. Select Connect domain.
3. Under Use a domain I own elsewhere, type in the domain name you want to transfer and select Verify.
4. Select transfer your domain and follow the step-by-step instructions.

Most domain transfers will take approximately 7-10 days to complete. You'll find more info about transferring in this article.

Hi Lou,  thank you but I do not want to upgrade to a paid plan, I want to keep the free plan.  I was told by someone I just had to make some changes to the cname records at register.com (possibly add a new record) so that my domain points to the free store url.  The monthly fee for the basic plan at shopify is $38 and at square is $36 so unless I can do what I am hoping to do I don't see the benefit of moving for $2 a month saving.  

Any other suggestions?
