If you have an optional modifier it manifests itself as a check box. But when you want to select a different option from the default, it does not allow you to do it. First you have to Uncheck selection, and then you can pick the desired option.
Apparently if the modifier is a 'required' choice, it works like you would expect. You select something, the existing option is 'unchecked' automatically.
I've had customers complaining about this recently because they think I've just made the option unavailable. This seems like a new change? I there any way to request that Square fixes this?
Hi, @Speedgraphic. This is not a Square problem, but rather a problem with your customization of modifier sets attached to the item. Edit the item, and scroll to the modifier section. I’ll use your “Add 4x6 Prints” modifier as an example. Click the ellipsis (…) beside it and choose “customize.”
At the top you’ll see “required modifiers” and “maximum modifiers.” Since you have Non as an option here, you’ll want to set required to 1 and maximum to 1 — this will allow the customer to choose one and only one. You can even pre-select “None” to be the default.
The same can be said about the other “optional” modifiers. If you don’t have maximum selected, then it will allow as many choices as the customer wants to choose. This is helpful when multiple choices can be made from a modifier sets — such as with my 80-modifier soft serve flavor set.
I hope that helps.
Could you add an option of "none" - my modifiers say choose 1

I appreciate your support and your insight on this, @TheRealChipA and @JTPets!
Were you able to get this resolved, @Speedgraphic?
