online store showing entire menu when pick up or delivery is active

Hi, I have a website with a menu that changes every week. The way I display what is available in a certain week is by creating a page with featured items so they only see what is available, Now when they choose pickup it all of a sudden shows all the items I have in my library (600-1000 items), I turned pick up off and only have "shipping" even though we don't offer shipping but I want to offer pick up properly. anyone have any idea how to get this fixed? Like to get rid of the top bar that they choose pickup from? Thanks!

I missed your previous reply! @elegantedgecate 😟 My apologies for the delayed response here.

 

The Featured Items section will only show the items that you specify, however, you would need to edit the section each week your menu changes. The Order Online shop page will display all items that are "available" in your store. 

 

Your store does not automatically display the Order Online shop page at this time, but the pickup option will display a fulfillment option pinned to the top of your site. I'm not sure if this is a recent change, but I'm fairly certain clicking on the button will redirect the customer to the Order Online page regardless if it is hidden from navigation. 

 

The easiest option would be to change the Order Online template to the Shop All template. I don't believe this will affect you in a negative way since you use the featured items section for your menu pages instead of the default "store" page.

 

To switch the template for your shop page:

  1. Go to your Square Online site editor, and select the Page dropdown menu.

  2. Under Category pages, select "..." > Switch template under either your Shop All or Order Online page.

  3. Review your template options, and select Switch.

  4. Republish the site for the changes to reflect on the live site. 

 

Depending on how often you switch your menu, you could also create Time Based Categories if you prefer to use the Order Online template. This option may take a bit more manual work to setup, though. 

 

The last step is to turn the pickup option toggle back on. Please let me know if this works out for you, or if you have any additional questions or concerns.

Glad to hear that worked for you! 🎉

 

To disable shipping, navigate to the Square Online dashboard, then click Items > Item Library. Next, click the box next to the items you are actively selling (or check the box for all items) then click on Bulk Edit in the top right corner of the screen. Select Fulfillment, then make sure only Pickup is checked.

 

Once you save it should update the available fulfillment options on the live site. 😊

Hi,

I am having a similia issue now but only once it hits the cart, you can click a button that says "add more items" when clicked it shows my entire library with the 1000+ items, I have searched but can't figure out how to get rid of the button that says add more items, i called in and was not able to get an answer.. Please let me know if you have any advise on this one.. Thanks!

There is an option to change the "Add to cart" to "Buy Now" instead. If you go to your Online Dashboard > Shared Settings > Checkout. Scroll down to Advanced Settings to make that change. Here is a screenshot of what it would look like.

Hi, that would not work becuase than it would be shipping and not pick up possibly? Also most of my customers buy multiple items so would not be a great option. My main issue is once its in the cart before checking out it has a button that says add more items, which than bring them to all my items- right now I've hidden all my other items but once I have multiple pages up its not a great solution... Thanks

Yes, it wouldn't be the best option for your customers that purchase multiple items through your site. 

 

And to confirm, even when you have those items hidden - your customers are still seeing them available to add to their cart? 

 

I just want to make sure I have all of the information while I consult with a Square Online specialist.

when its hidden they dont see it but can't hide for different pages 9i currently only have one page up so hard to show you what I mean)
