The title of this post has been edited from the original: Why Do My Items Auto Populate To My Online Store Without My Express Permission
We have been using Square Online more and more frequently and just noticed that our new items we put into Square itself are auto populating to Online live. They're not "hidden" or "unavailable". I cannot find a setting to stop this, as we all know the items we want to sell Online have quite a few settings we have to ensure are correct first.
I have to go in and manually set them to "Unavailable".
Hi there @JedThompson - it sounds like you have the Mark newly imported items as “Unavailable” online setting disabled. If this setting is enabled as shown below, your items will not be Visible when you add them to your Item Library:
You can make changes to this setting by heading to your Square Online Dashboard > Settings > Square Sync

Was this feature removed? My new items are automatically visible and I don't have the option to disable this.

I searched for that option and it does seem to be gone.
However, you can still go to Items > Item Sync and turn on "Automatically add new items to this site"

If items are automatically added, will they be visible?
For me Item Sync is under Shared Settings and I don't see that option there. Am I in the wrong place? See screenshot...

That's so strange!
That's exactly where it shows for me.
The only difference I see is that you have multiple websites on the account while I only have one.
Wondering if the option might be gone for accounts with multiple websites.
In this case, if the option was there, then yes, the items would be automatically visible when they sync.
Have you had a chance to contact our Support Team about this issue?
That second website was created a long time ago and deleted but it's still there on your end. It has created multiple usability issues for us. I'm going to try again with support to see if they can delete the site. Unless that's something you can help with?
