I'm setting up house accounts for my retailers and want to offer them specific discounts and free shipping. I'd also like to apply tax-exempt status to some accounts, but I understand that Square doesn't support tax exemptions for specific house accounts. So far, I've figured out how to create specific discounts for house account customers and a free shipping code for these retailers. I'm curious if anyone has found a better solution or does anyone know if i can apply both these discounts to an entire customer group?
@BProtzI also sell wholesale...I started mostly retail and now shifted to mostly wholesale, so I have two Square websites set up. I don't have everything sell on my sites, but one workaround I did was to create different ITEMS for retail and wholesale. So I can have unique pricing and quantities in each item. I think you could also change the shipping defaults for each site, so you could have every sale on the wholesale site shipping FREE. It's a ton of work juggling two separate sides, but there are some benefits of keeping a firewall between retail and wholesale customers. I wish it was easier 🙂
Hello @BProtz !
Like @HC_Charlie I too have multiple sites for my shop, one retail and one password protected wholesale. They each show different items as well.
One of my bigger wishes is that we can choose what variations show on the website(s). That way we could use one item on multiple sites and have only specific variations show. Hopefully at some point the dev team will take a look into it.
But, the bigger issue I'm worried about for you is that House Accounts don't work on the online environment yet. This has been a HUGE stopping point for me because I want to be able to offer terms to my wholesale accounts. Also, customer groups aren't really supported on SQO yet either, especially for automatic discounts.
What I've done to get past these deficiencies for my terms customers is to have them look over the website offerings then message me so I can set up an invoice. Since I'm creating the invoice, all the customer group comps are handled, and I have a Shipping service charge that I'll apply to the order if need be. Definitely repetitive but the best solution I've found for now.
I wish I had better news!
@ryanwannerI would love to have some payment options regarding terms for wholesale. It often leads me to think about trying a different website option for wholesale. One thing I've been trying to work on is a "group order" option, but I have yet to have a wholesale customer try this for me. Below is what I send to my customers as a potential option of using a group order to share their cart with me, so I can write an invoice for them. This would allow them to shop in the traditional manner of adding items from the website, so they don't have to send a separate emailed list of items. I'm hoping this might work for me...
