Weebly Promote, Square Marketing, Loyalty

Hi, I’m currently using Square Online with Weebly Promote to send and collect emails from our Square Online website. We are also using Square Loyalty on our website and at POS to give loyalty points on purchase and collect customer data for direct marketing.

I have to say that individually the functionality offered by each is great. However they do not work together easily, efficiently and simply. Square Marketing allows  unique customer codes (not available on Promote), Weebly Promote has some great automatic emails not available on Marketing and conversely Marketing has great automatic emails not found on Promote. Loyalty allows SMS collection but not email, but neither allow us to connect with the Loyalty customer. It’s great to give rewards and gain loyalty customers but it would be really great with we could gain by capturing  these customers and market direct o them via email.

As a retailer we are missing significant opportunities to connect with our customers, reward their loyalty and simply communicate back to them with offers, promotions etc by email and or sms text.

Is the marketing and loyalty functionality something that will be looked at anytime soon to consolidate all in to one really great marketing and loyalty package?

Hey @doc_choc, thank you for your post. I can see that you've been having this discussion with Alegra on this thread

Thank you for taking the time to file this feature request with so many details. It's this type of feedback that really helps our team learn more about what's needed from our sellers. As mentioned, it's a tricky one to try to resolve due to GDPR laws. However, if we receive any updates on the availability of this feature, we'll be sure to update you on that thread.

Let me know if you need anything else!

@k_atie  thank you for the response. Yes already chatting with@Breffni on this. With the GDPR laws how are other platforms Shopify, Magneto, Woocommerce, Mailchimp etc overcoming this snd able to offer such services. Also other UK/ European retail businesses such as Costa, Starbucks, Hotel Cocolat, Waitrose etc able to offer such schemes to thrir customers. Can we not learn from these companies and implement a GDPR compliant email collection system that feeds in to a single marketing feature that transcends both POS and website with a loyatly scheme and direct marketing built in to one feature. GDPR is a great thing for consumers protection, but any system implented correctly should not see GDPR as a barrier to letting those customers who wish to be on a newsletter mailing list or loyalty scheme miss out on benefits offered. Interesting to see how you decide to move this one forward in the UK/EU because this is a major obstacle/problem and consideration for any customer looking for a POS solution or website platform...how do they market directly to their customers without a marketing solution.

I hear ya on this @doc_choc, and that is a great point. I think it's definitely important to look at how other companies have managed to build and develop their products around GDPR while still remaining compliant. So although I don't have any information to share on this, hopefully, this will be something we'll be able to implement in the future.

@k_atie it's annoying how things don't tie in, but think it's more of an issue this side of the pond.

With Loyalty we don't get any of the SMS marketing options, and it's only collecting phone numbers so there's a huge loss built in for the the UK users.

Hi @Sam_400º thanks for stepping in. You are totally right on the SMS  so even the email would be nice while sms is sorted, but as it is we have ziltch, neither email or SMS marketing leaving us with a half baked loyatly offering. it costs us to implement the loyalty in terms of % loss of margin, and we get little back, possibly the hope that they may return but would be really nice to market directly to customers to nudge them back through the doors.

I think the general frustration is that these tools are developed in the main, being used in other territories but is just not really useful in the UK/EU. Just feels like it's floundering while other new features are released instead of tweeking existing and getting these quick wins off the to do list. I'm sure it will get there though as we businesses can't survive these difficult times without the basic tools like a newsletter. We have had to go back to pen and paper in our shops to capture emails, and reistated our old card based loyalty scheme (the city folk seem to be ok with this, its a novelty at the moment), and we have had to take the difficut descision not to use Square at one of our shops while we explore options as the marketing function is key to retail business and we have to have it to be competitive with other retailers both in store and online.
