Variation images won't go away ....

I'm trying to add new variations to an item.  There have been some mistakes with the images I uploaded and I "removed the ones that were assigned, but they keep appearing on the web site.

I've looked everywhere I can get to.  The variations have no images assigned in the dashboard, but images keep appearing on our website.

• I've removed all images I can find in the dashboard including image library.
• Saved the item repeatedly
• Cleared history, forced a clear cache (cntrl - refresh)
  
  What am I missing?

Make sure you cleared the variations' images as well. I struggle with this sometimes. Go to edit variations and set a picture for the variation and make it primary by dragging it to the front. Then remove the others and then save.
