Trouble uploading product images to website

I am trying to upload a couple of new product photos onto existing items on my website, I have not had trouble in the past, so can't understand what I'm doing differently or wrong? When I try to upload a .jpg the message says 'couldn't upload some or all images, try again later (or something to that effect). I've wasted so much time and I'm just going round in circles. I've looked at maximum sizes, minimum sizes, format, ratio, just don't know what to try next. Any help appreciated.

I have been adding lots of listings to my site and i thought everything was going well but now i see this (see link). why is the left side of the listing photos covered up by the other photos? Please help. i don't want to go through and edit every photo again. I am almost positive this has just occurred as i always check every listing on the preview and live on my website after i add each one. I would of noticed this immediately. Now all my listings look like this.

Hi @VixMag  I’ve just looked at your link on my iphone and images look central in phone format if that helps at all. Hope you manage to solve your issue. I’m still in limbo with my issue 🤔

Thank you. Yes that’s what I get. Just can’t work out why they are off on the desktop. It’s going to take me so long to go through all the photos again and change the size. So frustrating. I swear it was all fine a free days ago.

Just in case this happens to anyone I’ve found the solution. I went into website editor and in the drop down menu on the left I found the item pages drop down menu. I selected an item so I was in the item details editor. I scrolled down to content and opened the image gallery drop down menu. I then changed my image aspect ratio settings from 1:1 to 3:2 and I ticked the scale option on item fit options. It applied this change to all of my listings so saved me so much work. Phew! I knew I wasn’t imaging things. It’s all gone back to the way it was a few days ago. No idea why it changed on its own but I don’t care now. Sorted!

yes this is also happening to me. must be another bug that needs fixing. Also it comes up with a error message when adding new stock. And now my item images are appearing strange on my website suddenly. the left side is behind the other photos. so frustrating https://peacefulheartstudio.square.site/product/personlisedfamilyportrtait/5?cs=true&cst=custom

Hi @DawnW @VixMag - thank you for flagging and I'm sorry to hear you're facing difficulties with uploading product photos. This issue could be due to various reasons. To troubleshoot, (I know you have done some of this already) I recommend the following steps:

Image Format: Ensure your images are in a supported format like

  • .jpg
  • .png
  • .gif

Avoid using obscure or proprietary formats. A good rule of thumb is to use an image with a 1:1 aspect ratio that’s at least 2,000x2,000 pixels large. Anything lower than 2,000x2,000 could result in errors.

Image Resolution: Extremely high-resolution images can sometimes lead to upload issues. Try resizing your images to a standard web resolution (e.g., 72 DPI).

Internet Connection: A slow or unstable internet connection can cause issues with uploads. Ensure you have a stable and reasonably fast internet connection.

Browser: Try switching to a different web browser. Sometimes, certain browsers may have issues with specific tasks - we always recommend Chrome.

Clear Cache: Clear your browser's cache and cookies. Sometimes, cached data can interfere with website functionality.

File Names: Make sure your image file names don't contain special characters or spaces. Stick to alphanumeric characters and hyphens or underscores.

There are no reported bugs on this topic - hopefully some of these steps will be able to help!

Hi thank you for your reply @Breffni I have tried all suggestions except using Chrome (I use Safari and always have without issue with my dealings with Square). What I did notice was I could upload a photo into Square Items no problem but when I wanted to upload into site items for the website it would not upload (I tried this using the same image both ways). So I would say it’s not any of the issues based on image size, type etc? It’s just weird I’ve never had this issue before?

Thanks for helping, I’m out of the Studio today but I’ll try again tomorrow see if it’s just been a glitch and let you know how I get on 😊

Well after some messing about I still can't upload product photos direct to my online shop. I can if I use the Square photo app but I do prefer to sort my photos out using my own editing program. I can't understand why I can add my own photos to the items via my dashboard for checkout purposes but not as online items for the website? Surely the dashboard should (and always did) let you use the same format photos for either? I'm not doing anything differently to a year or more ago? I feel like I'm losing the plot! ☹️
