The case of the buyer address

Considering my business (of selling tickets to my events) has been consistently failing since I stopped trusting Eventbrite on the financial front, here's what I discovered after continuing to use Eventbrite only as an Event bulletin board:

1. People still buy on Eventbrite despite my text telling people to contact me for tickets so they can buy through my website.

2. My form asks people to put in their billing address but Eventbrite's checkout form does not.

I'm considering modifying my order form to completely remove the need for someone to enter their billing address, but then again squares documentation states that the odds of a transaction to be successful are higher if the buyer submits his/her billing information at checkout, however when I tested my checkout with a tiny order on my real credit card, I didn't need to put in my billing address. I only had to put in my credit card info and postal code.

So I'm wondering from merchants in Canada using square that have sold alot of services or products online where the merchant does not require the buyer's address to deliver the product/service:

Do you still require the buyers billing address?

If no, then what percent of people have complained to you about having their transaction denied after putting in their correct credit card number, CVV code, expiry, and postal/zip code and confirming with their bank that their credit card is in good standing with sufficient balance?

I ask because I'm trying to figure out if its worth not requesting the billing address anymore or if all future transactions from my future customers would fail.

And for clairity, I use the squares web SDK and squares API to manage payments when customers make purchases. so I have control of what appears on my form.

Hey there @osd! Bumping this thread for you. From the Square side we do recommend capturing the most information as this helps with any potential disputes. Hopefully other Sellers can jump in and provide some feedback.
