Square Online Store Updates: item fulfillment issues

When I first started using square to process sales, a few years ago, it was SOOO easy. I run an acting studio, and it was easy for customers to go make payments online for tuition and tickets to our performances. We even sell t-shirts and other apparel. 

 

In the last year it's become nearly impossible to make an item that our customers can use to make payments. Right now, people are trying to order shirts, and square won't let them check out saying that Pick ups are no longer available. Same thing with trying to list tickets online now. 

 

Is it possible to make an item that people can purchase that doesn't require a shipping/pick up option? This has become so frustrating

Thanks for posting in the Seller Community and providing some insight. I can understand your frustration, as I know that the Square Online Store has had quite the makeover in the last year. Most of the updates made to our system are to improve your experience as the seller and the customer experience. However, there's always an adjustment period with this amount of changes. 

 

When you go to Square Online > Items > Select Item > what are you seeing for fulfillment type?

The fulfillment type is Pick Up / Shipping / Local Delivery Self Serving. My customers tell me that they can't complete their transactions and receive the message "This item is not available for pickup." This happens seemingly randomly, mostly when customers are using their iPhones.

 

I would really just like things to be simple like they were when we started using Square and I could make an item, put it on the online store, and people could use that to complete a transaction. Like some sort of physical item option that doesn't have any shipping or pick up requirements.

Hey @dag1224 !

 

I just went to your site and tried to add the exact same item to my cart: YAP Hoodie Upgrade, youth large, black. I was able to add it to my cart and get to the checkout page.

 

My bet is that you have a stuck website tracker on your phone. Close the tab, force close your browser, and then go to iOS settings -> Safari -> Clear History and Website Data. That should take care of the problem.

 

I've seen this happen on my site when I've been making a lot of changes. I think it's just too much for the trackers to keep up with.

Thanks for checking! It's the items in "YAPparel" that are causing the problems right now. The Hoodie Upgrades are from years back when Square was easier. So it seems it would be easier for me to use Shopify instead of square when selling our clothing... We missed out on a lot of sales this week because our customers were unable to complete their transactions.
