Square Online - Google Merchant Centre

Hello. I currently have my free Google local listings set up fine but have recently started a Square Online website. How do I connect this also to Google Merchant Centre so my online store also appears on the free Google shopping tab?

Hi @csh3, I see you are fairly new to the Square Community, welcome!

Here are some steps to connect your Google listings to Square Online:

1. Sign in to Square Dashboard and go to Settings > Account & settings > Sales channels.

2. Select Get Started under Google Free Product Listings.

3. Confirm data sharing requirements, then select Continue.

4. Create a new or link your existing Google Business Profile Account to your Merchant Center account.

5. Select which Square Online website to connect to Google.

6. Verify your phone number with Google via SMS or phone. Note: Google will use your phone number to verify you are the owner of the business.

7. Finish setup.

8. Select Done.

I do not believe this is an option in Canada @Sammie_C ? I can see the google business profile connection, but google merchant center is totally different.

I have had to manually create google sheets to get inventory information and upc information to Google Merchant Center - Am I incorrect or isyour suggested solution incorrect?

Thank you for the heads up on this, @csh3 and @JTPets!

I checked with our eCommerce team to see if this feature is available in GB and CA. They unfortunately do not see my above directions available on non-US accounts. Since this does deal with an integration with Google, they actually recommend reaching out to Google Customer Support to see if they have any tips or workaround for this. Our support with integrations is limited.

That is a disappointing answer. We need less UI focus and more feature focus from Square development teams. Thanks for the follow up. 

Can we push back on the 1 country support?

I can definitely take your feedback over to the corresponding teams though. In the meantime, feel free to contact Google Customer Support and see if they have any workarounds.

The only work around is manually creating spreadsheets with all square data. And square does not provide easy access to item urls and image urls which are mandatory for Google merchant center. 

I have had to learn api access with ai to get things only to have the data points im using depreciated by square

Or look at another web host....

We strive for Seller experiences to be positive and simple, so I will go ahead and get this feedback escalated over to the corresponding teams and hopefully that can help implement some change in the future.

I appreciate the Escalation. We have a constant recurring theme on our champion calls about this obsession by square teams to half release things and then not finish them. This is an example. The feature functions xists it's just not pushed to other markets.

This doesn't seem to be an option in the UK - please could you double check? I know this is a feature that works in the USA. The only options I have are below:

Your channels

Google Business Profile

Manage your online presence across Google.

Meta for Business

Advertise and sell on Facebook and Instagram.

It just seems like another major flaw in the Square Online system for us in the UK, as well as a tax issue I posted about the other day too.

In my signature I have tools to export your catalog, and how to make tsv files for inventory, if you have SOME limited technical skill you can set it up to export your catalog to google through some clever scripting

Thanks for that. However I think people shouldn’t need to have to use round about ways like this - it should be a feature for all countries.
