Square Online Checkout

Is there a way to require guests to schedule their pickup time and that pickup time for an order doesn't default to ASAP pickup?  We do online orders for food at our taproom and guests often order ahead of time, and they are often very confused as to where they go to  schedule pickup time at checkout.

Hi @jemoen !

Short answer, there isn't a way to have the system not use ASAP--yet. Check out this thread about some possible workarounds:

I notice in the checkout experience, that some of the modifier sets are contracted like the "Add Protein?" modifier pictured below where it says "select one". So you have to click on "select one" to see the modifier options. And some modifier sets, like the "Choose Your Toppings" pictured below is expanded so you can see all the options at a glance without having to click.

All modifiers should be expanded instead of contracted. This way there is less friction for people shopping, its one less click they have to make to see the options. And that would be more on par with checkout experiences on ubereats and doordash which have very clean checkout experiences. The current way square online expands some modifier groups and contracts others is just confusing.

It seems like every modifier group that only requires 1 choice is contracted, and if it requires two or more choices, the set is expanded. But once again, either way, it should always be expanded to be more in line with industry standard and less friction for the end user.

Can this update please be made?

Hi there @organico,

We appreciate this feedback and totally understand how it could look to the customer. To expand on this a little more, the modifier options that have the dropdown bar are modifiers that the customer can only have one selection. The modifiers that show the full list showing are ones that the customer can choose multiple options.

Thanks for the reply. Do you guys have plans of changing this to make it better or are you keeping it the way it is?

the way it is right now is not the way it should be and we wouldn’t use square online until it’s fixed. Not up to industry standards…
