Square Contracts Customization

I have 3 questions about Square Contracts:

1. Is there a way to "attach" or require a Contract to a specific item. We sell various items but only a couple items need to have a contract for it.

2. Is there a way to attach or require a Contract for signature at time of purchase, similar to having a client sign for a payment?

3. Is there a way to attach/require a Contract to a specific item in the Square Online Store? If a customer purchases the product online that requires a Contract, then the Contract will pop-up for the insured to sign during the online purchase process.

Thank you for your help!

Great questions, @NLF!

We don't currently have a way to attach a contract to a specific item or have a customer sign one as part of the purchase flow (whether with Square Online or in person). I can easily see why those would be great to have, though!

I have over 50 photography clients in my business coaching and advertising agency that would love for this to be an option as well! Any updates on adding this feature?

Hello there @LaMarieCo

We now have several ways to make this possible. In your case, it seems that contracts upon booking might be a great option to help your business succeed. This is accomplished by automatically sending a contract when a customer books for your services.

When you enable the Appointments integration from your Appointments Settings page, we will automatically generate a contract with the customer’s details provided upon requesting a booking, using the template you chose in their settings for that business location. Any payments made towards that appointment will be later associated with the contract automatically. To enable contracts with Appointments:

  1. Go to Appointments in your online Square Dashboard.
  2. Click on Settings then Communications.
  3. Under Digital customer contracts, toggle on Send a digital contract to all customers upon booking.
  4. Select the contract template.
  5. Click Done then click Save.

If you are interested in other ways to attach a contract to your payments you can find more on this Getting Started with Square Contracts page.

P.S. Welcome to the Seller Community

Thank you! We have another scheduling software that triggers automations, so they will have to schedule the clients in two places, but this at least provides one solution for now!

Is it possible to automatically attach a Square Contract to a particular item for both the Square POS and Online Store?

We have some items that we sell that require a contract, but we don't require a contract for every item. Contracts are only for certain items.

We would like the contract to automatically populate when the item is selected for purchase and would require the customer signature at checkout for both the POS and Online Store. This would significantly reduce the back and forth with the customer and create a more seamless transaction. If the customer orders that particular item, then the contract automatically pop ups for the insured to electronically sign before the sale is completed.

Hey @NLF,

I moved your post back to your existing thread where you've already asked this question before.

It looks like @AdamB answered this for you back in December so check out his Best Answer here.
