Small Online Supermarket - alcohol / cigarettes

Hi,

We are a small supermarket looking to go online and deliver groceries to our customers. This would include selling and delivering alcoholic drinks and cigarettes. Is this allowed by Square in the UK? If not, does anyone know if there is any way we can get around it? Does Square allow connecting with Uber Eats and delivering alcohol/cigarettes through them?

Hi @bart_vistula, thanks for posting and welcome to the Community 🙂.

While you can sell tobacco in person with Square, you're not able to sell it on your website. However, you are allowed to sell alcohol both in person and online, providing that you have an age verification pop-up on your website. Make sure to check if the law permits it in your area. You might find the support article Selling Alcohol with Square helpful as well.

You're able to connect your Square account to Uber Eats thanks to a couple of integrated applications like Deliverect or Stream. You'll find the complete list on our App Marketplace. Whether you use a third party to deliver your products or not, the same rules and restrictions would apply for the sales of alcohol and tobacco. I've also found an article from Deliverect's website that gives you some tips about selling alcohol, which might provide more insight.
