Shopping Cart - changing the DATE of scheduled pickup/delivery

Shopping cart query, the bottom right shows when the pickup or delivery is available, by default showing only the next available time-slot.

Majority of my customers are booking an event cake, several days ahead.

When they go to update to their preferred date, it only offers to toggle between pickup/delivery settings, not what the customer is trying to do, they want to change the date altogether....

 

I know this is available later in middle of checkout process. But my some of my potential customers are lost through this, and have to call to ask millions of questions.

 

Can either;

1) the cart allow to select from scheduling options (choosing a new date).

2) or else remove this section out of the cart process, and only selecting day in checkout process.

 

Also the scheduling section of checkout page is very light grey text, looking like it's not an active section for customer input. Easy change to black text please.

Selecting a scheduled date within the cart is something our eCommerce team is working on at the moment! We've received a bit of feedback about this, we'll announce the feature on this forum once available 👍

 

Thanks for the feedback about the light grey - I see what you mean, generally light grey indicates a non-editable field. I'm passing this feedback on as a suggested product improvement.

Again thanks for aiding on this.

This is a major problem, leading to a great loss of sales, as customers can't change their preferred delivery/pickup date in cart, selecting change does not offer what you would expect.

 

Please delete this section from cart, or even better, make the 'change' in cart actually allow date selector to come up.

Plus as mentioned, currently in checkout the date selector section is greyed out, although it can be accessed, confusing.

Please a fix one way or another on this, fence sitting here is bad for business.

I am finding this to be a major problem as well for my customers. The vast majority of contact my customers make is to get help with checking out because they can't change the pickup/delivery date as they expect to in the cart.

 

I also find that some miss the scheduling option too, so a way to make it the default option instead of "ASAP" would be great.

Hi Seamus, has there been any update since 2020 on this? Really needing my florist client to be able to accept scheduled flower deliveries ie. someone ordering flowers for delivery in 3 days time. Keen to hear about this ASAP thanks.

Any updates to this? It is confusing to the customer on how to change date for pickup/delivery. A calendar should pop up for them to choose their date. I know you can click the date in the Cart and the option to change it does come up but customers do not know to do that due to lack of instruction. And there is no way for me to tell them to click date to change because I cannot add a field with a note to "Click date to change"

Any advise would be greatly appreciated... ty

As of now, I'm not personally aware of any recent updates to this feature. To get the most accurate information, I've reached out to our Square Online team today to confirm whether there are plans to implement an update to carts.

We've had square for a few months now and love most of the features.

 

However one thing we have trouble with DAILY is that customers don't realise they can change the pickup / delivery date in their checkout. So, annoyingly, customers often just click through without realising they haven't set a date, and the checkout defaults to the next available delivery / pickup date. 

 

The problem is that the feature in the checkout isn't very intuitive or clear, and frequently changes. It often says 'Currently available for pickup' on the button you'd use to pick a date/time, and customers don't realise that you can click on the button to change it (it looks like an instruction not a button).

 

We're getting very frustrated with this because we're constantly having to call customers to ask them if the pickup time is correct, or field calls from them saying they've received an email saying their order is ready for pickup when they didn't want it until a month away. We're also losing precious stock as a result (we're a cake business so can't keep stock once an order has been made).

 

We tried getting around this by putting a pop up on that reminds people to pick a delivery or pickup date in checkout, but people still miss it and end up ordering for a date they don't want. 

 

This is getting very frustrating for our business, we're wasting time and precious stock, and annoying our customers. Can we PLEASE have a way to make it clearer in the checkout that people need to choose a delivery or pickup time/date? Even just a heading above the button that says 'Choose date'? The default language and usability is really confusing and it's harming out business. Other website platforms we've used in the past have never had this issue.

I hear your frustration and can see how the checkout experience could be more intuitive for customers to specify their pick up or delivery preferences as well. This is a feature request we've passed on to out Square Online team, and are advocating for internally. Hello, I'd like to also add my customer's feedback to this. It is very frustrating that it is so hard to figure out how to select date and time of pickup, particularly in the retail format. As you can see in the screenshot below, there's no prompt or wording at all that points towards this. Can Square Online please fix this?

Thanks for reaching out to pass on your feedback from your customers. I've gone ahead and merged that thread with an existing thread where we've been discussing this same issue.

I'll be happy to pass on your feedback to our Product Team today, so they're aware we've received similar feedback from multiple Sellers in recent weeks. Right now, if your customer wishes to edit their date and time for pickup from the Checkout page, they can select the Edit button next to HOW TO GET IT. Alternatively, they can edit their preference Orders page directly. I've included screenshot examples of this in this thread.

I hope this helps in the meantime, and if I receive any updates from our Product Team, I'll be sure to share them within this thread.

Thanks for your patience while I got back to you about this!

I want to ensure that you see the same options I observe while testing the date editor on my site. I've attached screenshots for your reference.

When choosing the pickup or delivery option, it should be reflected in the box at the top of the Orders page. You'll notice an option to select 'Change' on this box, enabling customers to edit their preferred pickup/delivery date. As you mentioned, this option appears again in the Checkout flow as an 'Edit' button above the currently selected pickup/delivery times.


If you're seeing something else, can you please include a screenshot in your reply, so I have a better understanding of the request. Otherwise, I hope this helps to answer your question!
