Shipping & Taxes on Items Not Populating

I've put in a support ticket, but while I wait for a response I thought I'd ask the community if you have suggestions, advice, or thoughts that might help. Maybe someone has experienced this before?

I've tried to set up my coffee beans for shipping online, but in the checkout screen the shipping doesn't show up, even after entering an address, and the taxes don't show up at all.

I've attached Shippo, set up a shipping carrier, fulfillment location, and shipping box. I also created a shipping rate profile with a fallback rate. Each item is a physical item, with fulfillment methods of shipping and pickup, and assigned a shipping box.

Three out of the Six items also are available as monthly subscriptions, but they all have the shipping & taxes not populating issue. They all have payment links connected to my website.

And randomly the taxes don't show up either, which is the only time I've ever had an issue with taxes not applying to an item. I've not touched any settings for taxes. Taxes are still applying correctly to items purchased in-person at the shop.

Here's a link to one of the items as an example, https://square.link/u/YrIPm9lG

I appreciate any help with this! ❤️

Solution

Thank you @MayaP @JUYBoutique20 @MAXSDELI for trying to help!

The solution came over the weekend from Square customer support.

I've learned that Payment Links are handled differently.

It's found on the Dashboard -> Payment -> Payment Links -> Settings -> General

From what I can see right now Payment Links don't get to use real-time shipping, only a flat rate, and you have to turn on taxes for it.

It's all in the Payment Links settings screen, pretty straight-forward.

For my situation I moved away from Payment Links which is how come that url doesn't work anymore.

And now I'm connecting my main website to my Square ordering page by using the url differently with "?shipping=true" and "&item=XX" for example: https://randoms-coffee.square.site/?shipping=true&item=132

Which all works out better anyway because now people can purchase more than one coffee in their cart at a time.

But I can also see now how Payment Links could be interesting to use for when I have an item that's only offered to certain people.

For example when I make a specific custom coffee blend that's only offered to a specific school district.

They could use their payment link to access their custom blend for reorder when needed. That makes the process way more efficient.

I'm super excited to have learned all this. I just had to share!

Hey @BrianaJo – I appreciate your patience. That does sound unusual that taxes and shipping aren't populating. The link you provided isn’t working—could you share it again?  ( @JUYBoutique20 @keicollective @BofBArtStudio @MAXSDELI ). I appreciate the support.

I’d like to help however, we don’t use shipping as an option in our business. Best of luck

We use a fixed rate shipping, but the link attached is not working so I can't see exactly what it's doing.
