Self Serve Kiosk Issue - Canada

Hi!  Was wondering if someone has found a workaround for this specific issue regarding third party app kiosks that integrate with Square Canada.

When a costumer places an order through the self serve kiosk (I use Grubbrr), the payment is processed with Square and sent to the KDS without issue. The customer also gets a receipt with the item breakdown and taxes. So far so good. The issue is that Square POS shows it as a lump sum custom amount for the total. That means no breakdown for items and taxes in Square reports. That ends up skewing everything.

Since Grubbrr has it's own reporting showing item and tax breakdown, I was wondering if it would be beneficial to create a new Square account that only deals with kiosk transactions and keeps my main POS system separate (the one I use for non kiosk transactions)?

Any other best practices when it comes to Kiosks?

As an aside, I would highly recommend all restaurants to look into using these kiosks. They have been a game changer for us and I honestly don't see us going back to only cashier transactions.

I'd encourage Square to invest heavily in their own version that has full integration because it's a feature many quickserve restaurants would greatly benefit from!

Thanks for posting, @Nom 😊 Glad to hear the self serve kiosk option is working out so well for you!

I do not have first-hand feedback to provide, but I'm tagging a few Super Sellers that may have some suggestions for you. 😊

Hi, all. I'm not sure if any of you are familiar with KDS, or Grubbrr, but hopefully someone has some insight here.

Hey,

Thanks for the post!  I’m on the lookout for a kiosk solution in Canada and it’s disappointing that Square has limited its SDK.

I’ll give Grubbrr a try as it sounds like the only solution in Canada that works.  I wonder if there’s a way to get a script done to sync the data between the two?

I would be interested in splitting the cost of a script if that’s a good option.
