Trying to rate on Google and Bing, and the URL inspection is coming back with 'H1 Tag is missing'. What does this mean and how can i fix it?
Hello! The URL is omashaus.ca
I was able to have a Square Online specialist take a look at your site @omashaus.
They said that the banner on your homepage uses h1 but all the titles on the other pages use h2 tags, so that’s probably what you're seeing.
Do you know how to add the h1 tag?
Hi Isabelle;
Thanks for checking into this. So, if i understand correctly, in the 'Main banner' section, the 'Banner Headline' would be considered the H1 tag? And based on what i read, the more content/keywords i put in the H1 tag the better i will rank.
Yes, just based on what we saw, the main banner section uses an h1 tag @omashaus!
I believe @MuseBelts and @javanbyte had some trouble with h1 tags in the past and may be able to provide more information/solutions than I can.
The code injector that Weebly calls the Embed Code corrupts whatever you put into it after publishing. I have numerous screenshots. Bing Webmaster were the folks that revealed this to me. Weebly tech support keeps gaslighting me to avoid dealing with this. I have no idea why their Embed Code API does not function correctly or why Weebly refuses to fix the problem. I even spoke with a Weebly App developer who said that the Embed Code has a bug.
On top of that As a Square/Weebly customer no apps in the Weebly App store and made available for the user. NONE. I cannot even pay for an app.
Why did Square buy Weebly if they are not going to provide a fully functional platform?
That is an interesting revelation. That probably explains why in Google Analytics, everytime I perform a 'URL Inspection' i receive the following error:
Sitemap | Type | Submitted | Last read | Status | Discovered URLs | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
https://omashaus.ca/sitemap.xml | Sitemap | Oct 20, 2020 | Oct 24, 2020 | Success | 655 |
I just viewed your website landing page. You do not have any h-1 tags. It is easy to look at any website and see if H tags are used and if the syntax is correct. Do yourself a favor and google "Bing Webmaster SEO analyzer". Navigate to it. You may have to sign up for it but it is well worth it. Bing offers very reliable and valuable tools to analyze websites. The SEO analyzer will evaluate and report its findings as well. It was there I discovered that Weebly's Embed Code injector/section does not function. I went back and forth with this issue with a Bing tech support staff member. I entered the correct syntax for H-1, 2, and 3 and after publishing it is discovered that the data I entered is corrupted. EVERY fricking time. Bing confirms it. I have bunches screenshots to verify everything I am telling you.
First, you have to index your site. That is easy to do. But if you want to gain in search rankings you have to have H-tags. Google and Bing looks for H-tags when they search your site. You need to add H-tags to each page for your site. I was able to look at your beautiful site and I noticed you do not have any. I sent an email through your website messaging on your contact page.
How do you add the H1, 2 and 3 tags?
On the Square Online website, you cannot add any H Tags. The code injector API located in the dashboard does not function. And before I left Square, they had no intention of fixing the API. I went through 6-8 months back and forth with Square tech support and no one was willing to help so I closed my Square Online store and reopened on Wix. Wix has a more sophisticated SEO capability. The Wix platform automatically adds H tags and you can add more if you need to. If you are really serious about SEO then inquire at Google and they will tell you that H Tags are REQUIRED for search rankings. Then find another platform that has that available.
Good luck!
Hey there @leviboyd64
At this time Square Online should be able to add Header tags (H tags) automatically and these are not customizable.
I will pass your feedback and feature request over to our product team for their visibility and consideration.
Has this really been fixed? I am having this issue as well.
I am just doing SEO and finding that my page comes back with no H designations on it at all. www.craftycreationsquiltgallery.com
No it hasn't. Square has no intetions of fixing this issue either. I went 6-8 months of dealing with Square tech support dodging this difficiency. To gain search ranking with Bing and Google, your website must have H-tags.
I dropped Square Online completely more than a year ago and went to Wix. Their platform is superior in SEO compared to Square. I had been with Square for many years too. Wix is really a better platform with far better SEO capabilities. Dont waste time any more than you already have.
To resolve the "H1 Tag is missing" issue, I recommend reaching out to this SEO expert based in Karachi. He can fix this issue by ensuring that each page on your site has a properly implemented H1 tag, which is crucial for SEO rankings on Google and Bing. The H1 tag should clearly represent the main topic of the page and help search engines understand its content better.
