Reporting about the Restaurant Revitalization awards are due by 12/31. I know that it can be done on the SBA portal, but will Square offer the ability to do it through the dashboard? Since applying for forgiveness for the PPP loan through the dashboard made the process some much easier, I am hoping Square will do the same for RRF.
I too have been anxiously wondering and awaiting Square's next steps and direction on the RRF Fund reporting. Also for the PPP Round Two forgiveness process.
SO FOLKS here we are almost a year later and still no response or guidance from Square on either of these two issues.
I have phoned them several times and left messages with real humans to have these departments call me since I'm always told I cannot be transferred to anyone; but I was supposed to "rest assured it was being handled by Square".
I had tried notifying Square when my 2nd round PPP was "forgiven" for an amount OVER the funds I received; but still no response from Square.
NOW I'm being audited by the SBA all because Square never submitted the final RRF Award Report to them.
Were you able to log on to the portal since receiving that notification? I received the same letter but cannot log on. I've tried calling and cant get through and haven't received a call back. Giving 2 weeks notice out of nowhere to report with extra documentation during Hurricane Ian atermath is cruel.
Just saw this email sorry. To be honest I haven't been able to even try. I've been planning my Mother's Memorial and haven't even been at my Cafe most these past days. Square did soooo GREAT with my first PPP. I don't understand why they have abandoned us on the 2nd PPP and the RRF. They have provide absolutely nothing in the way of SERVICE or guidance. It's almost as if they have just left us hanging on a noose. WHY SQUARE WHY?????
Some of us do not have anything close to re-payment of funds lying around collecting dust!!!
So sorry for your loss. I still cannot log on. It says it's inactive. They haven't returned my call. Getting nervous about what will happen if I can't speak to someone or log on before that deadline. If we had those kind of funds lying around we wouldn't have needed them or qualified in the first place. Hoping its just part of their protocol and there will be some grace given.
Still Square is taking NO ACTION on this matter. ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Jumping in on this as well. I'm being audited by the SBA RRF as well and am getting no assistance from Square either. I wonder home many of us are being audited? The numbers provided by Square are a mystery to me and to them, based on the runaround I'm getting. I have sumbitted at least 50 doucments to the SBA RRF auditors and still no help from Square in explaining the source of numbers they provided.
I used Square to submit my application for the SBA RRF. We hadn't filed taxes at that time and used the prefilled application from Square and were successful in our application. This year I was contacted by the SBA RRF audit team. Our tax return numbers don't match the Square revenue numbers from the application, which is understandable, but Square is unable or unwilling to provide the source of the data or explain where they got the numbers for the prepopulated RRF application. Is anyone else having a similar experience? Wondering if this is common or if I'm alone in this boat?
@NomadB_Rad I am curious, how off are the numbers from your actual year end 1099 report from square and the application? and did the application include all sales (cash/check) otherwise? Could it be a gross sales versus net sales after discounts?
Thanks for replying Donnie. I've looked at every number possible - gross, net, total and net total. None of them match the numbers Square prepopulated. I can understand and explain why they don't match our tax returns but not getting any help as to how the numbers don't match anything. If it is just gross to gross the Square RRF generated 2019 number is +$26,336 and the 2020 number is -$22,265 versus gross sales numbers run today for those years. I can't find a matching number to explain the difference.
If you used Square to submit your RRF do you know which numbers they used - gross, net, total or total net?
I was audited last year and submitted ALL of the MANY documents requested. Never heard a word from them on whether they even received or reviewed any of it. I wrongly assumed that I was in the clear. Received another notice that i had been chosen for further audit 3 months later. They made me jump through many hoops. They now know where every last cent of my businesses money has gone for the last 2 years. It was so absurd. Everything has to be verified at least 2 ways. Finally after about 2 weeks of daily sending them more documents, I was given the clear. It really felt like huge government overreach. To think they literally now know where every cent is going for any business they chose to audit. I own a small restaurant and was surprised they didn't have bigger fish to fry. Good Luck on your end. I was told that if everything wasn't turned in to their liking the funds would have to be returned. I can't tell you the relief I felt when I got their email saying, Contratulation's $0 owed.
Hello-
It sounds like you've already gone through this process. I was contacted recently by the SBA for the same information. I applied for the RRF through Square and now my account is under internal review. I'm unable to reach anyone at Square who knows what's going on. Has Square helped at all through this process? Or is this something you did directly with the SBA? Can you share some insight on the process/ what information you sent to appease the SBA? I can really use some guidance, thanks in advance.
Hi- I did not receive help rom Square. All contact was through the RRF portal. It was VERY tedious Even after getting the all clear from them, I was just contacted in August again. Apparently they audited their own audit and started texting and calling for more documents. 3 weeks later i was notified that it was all cleared up and I do not have to repay. I hope to never hear about it again. The only thing you can do is submit all requested documents through that portal. Good Luck.
Thanks for your reply- I really appreciate the insight and help with the matter. I submitted the fund's allocation via Square post-grant and the SBA is stating that they did in fact receive it. Was the information sent via Square insufficient? Or could this just be a random audit?
Is this the same letter you received? :
"We notified you that your Post Award Report had been completed. However, during a quality control review, it was identified that additional information is required to complete the award verification. We apologize for the inconvenience, but we have re-opened the Post Award Report review process and do need to ask for a few more documents at this time. The Post Award Report you submitted indicates the use of the award in specified eligible categories. We have listed below the information needed based on the categories you selected. We are not limiting your award to each specific category but will attempt to maximize the award use as quickly as possible based on the documents you provide until the award is supported. Please note that the purpose of SBA requesting this documentation is to both prove eligibility of your business as well as actual expenditure of funds. When providing supporting evidence, please ensure it clearly shows that the funds were received by the vendoror payee (i.e., cancelled checks, evidence on an invoice that a payment was received the previous month, bank statements that clearly show payments being made to payee.)"
I did get the same notice but in mine they specifically requested our business tax transcript for 2020.
So, its nothing Square did or didn't do.
That's good to hear and congrats! I've sent the SBA many documents as well over several requests for more information. No help from Square. I haven't heard from them in a couple of months but did not receive and $0 owed notification. Still waiting fot he other shoe to drop.
I have also been wondering if Square will again offer access to the RRF for 2021 like they did last year for 2020?
Nobody at Square knows what's going on about this matter. I've literally talked to every department (loans, restaurants, capital, account services, advanced support) and nobody knows what's going on. Is this something we can pursue via class action? Seems like negligence on the part of Square for not reporting as needed.
Does anyone have any updates on their audit? I’m in the same boat and seeing someone that has cleared their audit might give me some hope and and end to this
I'm not sure if I cleared my audit or not, they just stopped contacting me. Not sure if that helps and apologies for the delayed comment, small biz life!
