Remove Out of Stock Items from Website

I have turned off the 'Display Out of Stock Items on Site' setting in Item preferences, but these are still showing on my site. How do I get them to disapear. I do not want to have to hide them, I just want to be able to update inventory as necessary. I thought that's what this new feature was for, but I guess I don't understand how it works. Thanks!

I actually can't get this to work. I just turned OFF the toggle "Display out of stock items on site" so I would expect that out of stock items wouldn't show up. I have tons of items whose stock is toggled "Mark as sold out on Point of Sale and Online" but they still show up on the site. I can't order them, but they do show up, and they don't even have an "out of stock" banner on them.

Just did another test and it looks like if I turn "stock tracking" on and mark the stock to 0, it is removed from the website correctly. But if I simply toggle on the "Mark as sold out on Point of Sale and Online" option, it does not. THIS SHOULD NOT WORK THIS WAY. We should be able to toggle on the "Mark as sold out on Point of Sale and Online" setting for an item, and have it NOT show up on the website.

And yes, I also published the site again but it made no difference.
