Has anyone found a way to make online order receipts more printer friendly? Looking to only print the information I need to fulfill the order.
Thank you for all that information and the screenshots, @ascoach!
So at this time, the older version is no longer available and the newer more expansive version is the newest update. Some pages and tools are occasionally reworked and this appears to be one of them.
Not sure if you have heard of our Feature Requests on our Ideate platform, but it a great way to share any feature concepts, ideas, or requests you have for Square products. If you are interested, feel free to post a Feature Request on there and potentially have the previous version added back!
I hope this was helpful, and please let us know if you have any other questions.
@ascoach I can try to give you some pointers, but what kind of items are you selling? What info do you need on the ticket? How do you process/flow your orders when they come in?
We sell apparel items. I am just looking for basic info on the ticket that we can print and fulfill orders from.
Name, Date of Order, Fulfillment Method, Items Ordered.
Thank you!
I'm in total agreement with you on this and surprised it’s not been picked up by other Square online retailers and addressed by Square. So to be blunt, I think by 'printer friendly' the system needs to be able to print an order without it sprawling over several pages, without acres of white paper between each line, without having to adjust the printer setting and having to set to 70% scale every time you want to print out an order. If you click the print button highlighted in the screenshot below, you get a very poorly formatted order to print. Any chance this print button can be looked at so it generates a pdf, with the order details nicely formatted and a nice pretty logo at the top and business contact details at the bottom. Dare I make a feature request, bulk order printing, we simply selected the orders we want by selecting a little box at the side of the order and press the print button to generate a pdf with all the selected orders for printing. I may be missng the point but it sounds simple??
Anyway nice order format, it's a basic function that the system needs to be delivering.
Hi @ascoach, thank you for your post. Appreciate you looking into this too, @Donnie-M!
When you have some time, could I get a bit more clarification on what you mean by "printer friendly"? Are you referring to the actual format of the printable receipt, or the information field details on the receipt? Or maybe even both?
Let me know and I can take a further look into this for you.
Hi Sammie,
I am just looking for a more condensed version of what prints from the orders page. Or a way to choose which fields to print.
I liked how the older version on the edit store page printed. It was all compact and took up less space. I feel like the whole first page of what is printed from the Orders page is too much information and takes up the whole first page.
Hope that makes sense. I might just be being a little too picky. We use the paper version as an easy tool to pull and process orders and then we use the box with the customers information as a way to tag their order. We have been able to keep using the old page to access orders but it looks like that stopped this week as new orders are not updating there.
I will attach the two versions to make it clearer.
Any feedback is appreciated.
Thank you for all that information and the screenshots, @ascoach!

Great! Thank you for the info.
Once upon a time our invoices used to print out nicely, before the transition from the old Weebly to Square online. Now our print button gives us the following. This is for a single item, its set over two pages, spread out with so much fresh air in between, we have to manually reduce everyone to 70%, and now it has started left justifying. I'm trying to remain calm on this one but why from our dashboard can we not print the basic requirements for business, a invoice or receipt for an order that looks nice, with a tidy format, with our company details on, might be a stretch to ask for our logo, but I will put it out there. For a forward facing business like ours it makes our business look rank amateur. Please Square we businesses using Square really need better from you guys with the basics.
This will not fix your format problem, but I thought I would share this link in case anyone is looking to bulk print orders. Developed by and ex Square engineer, who has identified the need for businesses to bulk print order. And it's free! 🙂
Thank you for this link! I am going to try it out. I just put in a request for a way to bulk print orders. I only use a desktop so it can take a while to get through a night's orders when we have to do one at a time.
I noticed last week Square changed the formatting again and it is taking up even more paper. I think I had one that ordered 4 items and it ended up printing out three pages. Very frustrating and it does not look nice to put in with the customer's order.
It’s crazy, our orders are now all of a sudden, overnight, are now left justified and plus we have to manually reduce the page size by 70% otherwise we are rolling over several pages for a small number of items in an order. Hope they get it fixed as it really is a fundamental thing to be able to print the online order. Plus it’s time consuming. The bulk print link really is nice, it was sent to me by a kind ex-Square developer.
Used this feature this morning and it works great!! I like how it formats it and keeps it all on one page. Thank you for sharing!
@ascoachhappy it was of help. Sometimes in life it's the little things 🌞
We are having a similar issue as @doc_choc. Recently, when printing online orders, the information is being formatted to only use the first 2/3 of the page width-wise. No matter how I change the scaling or margins, the full page is not being used. @Sammie_C can you please advise if there is anything else we change on our end? This change is causing us to use an unnecessary amount of paper for each order. I'm OK with the information that's being listed - the only issue is the way it's formatting to print.
Thank you for tagging me! Unfortunately I do not have a fix for this.
There may be options available on your individual printer or computer, but on the Square side, we do not have a function to have things be printed differently. That I know of anyway! If any has any helpful tips, feel free to chime in here.
