Phone number

Is there a way to remove my personal phone number from my store location & hours? I had previously just set it to 000-000-0000 however yesterday I needed to edit something in the pickup/delivery location and it wouldn't allow me to continue without editing to a valid phone number. I already received a phone call now from a customer assuming I was a brick & mortar shop (I'm online only) which I was trying to avoid. I don't want to have any number visible to the public.

At the moment it is not possible to remove your phone number from the contact form of the Pickup & Delivery section for Square Online, unlike the email address which is currently optional @SFNKaren

 

I completely see how having either one or the other as an optional field would be more useful for our sellers, so I'll be sure to pass this information back to our product team.

You can always edit your phone number from your Square Online Dashboard > Fulfilment > Pickup & Delivery > Location > Location Details. 

 

I see that you got this resolved - great news! I'll leave the steps here anyway, just in case.

Can I eliminate my phone number from appearing on my location completely? I was able to remove it from my home page but I notice now that when someone purchased from me, my phone number appears in the pickup location. I want to avoid getting texts or phone calls to as I’m home based. Just want communication through email. However I can’t seem to delete my phone number completely from the location details. When I delete, it won’t allow me to save it.

Hello Alegra - any update on this issue with removing my phone number from the pickup & delivery section? I would really like this resolved before my busy fall and winter season begin. Thanks for addressing!

No updates here @SFNKaren at this time from a Business perspective we require a phone number to provide reassurance to the buyer and to better defend your business from disputes or chargebacks.  I will still flag this once again to our product team for their visibility and consideration.

If I had a retail space, I could see why adding my phone number would be important. However, as I operate my business out of my home, my only phone number is my own personal cell number. I don't want customers phoning or texting me at any hour as many are not considerate of business hours or my personal time. I would still want my email address to be visible and have an easy way for my customers to contact me and I could therefore address any problems or questions my customers may have. But I could address those during the day, during business hours.  

Thanks for bringing this to the attention of your product team once again.

Square needs to make this optional I also do not want my private number on my page. What is the point of automating when people will still call you all the time? I don't deal with urgent matters, they can email me

This is a game changer. I don't want my number appearing on anything, I am online only. It used to not show up, but I went in to look at the settings for pickup/delivery to see if that was an option I wanted to do and now I can't get out without putting my phone number in. I have pickup and deliver turned off and I still have to have the phone number.  I have my page all ready to publish but I won't if my number is going to show up. Please fix this.

I can definitely understand where you're coming from. We have implemented a process to improve the visibility of our feature requests from Sellers. I recommend you submit a Feature Request here

 

Important: When submitting a request, make sure to include the desired feature, and provide the details of how this feature will help your business succeed (how would you use it and what you expect from it).
