Re: Pay for online order when picking up

I'm looking for the option for a customer to pay for their online order when they pick it up at our store, instead of paying at checkout. Any one else looking for this? It was suggest I post this to see how many people would find this option useful.

I just had a customer asking me about paying ordering online but paying with cash at pick-up. While one side of me wants to offer that, I quickly realized how much of a headache that could turn out to be for us. When someone checks out, those items come out of our inventory as if they've been paid for. And if the customer doesn't come to pay for them, I haven't really made a sale. I've personally decided this isn't worth it for me. We're a retail store, however. Maybe that's an option that another type of business would find helpful! I'm glad you started the thread!

Thanks for helping out and providing some insight here. We really appreicate it. I completely agree that this all depends on the type of business you own or operate under.

@spicelife the feature to allow paying in person is actually a feature request and has not been built out yet. Our teams are constantly looking through our seller's feedback to make necessary improvements, and we will be sure to let you know if anything ever changes or if new updates are released.

Alex, I appreciate that. This is an option we had in our old online store and our local customers are used to it. Never had an issue. Thanks so much.

Hi there! I noticed that this post was made in 2020. I was wondering if there have been any updates on whether Square has added the feature that allows customers to pay with cash or CC swipe when they pick up their orders. I have some local customers who prefer these payment options, and it would be great to have this as an option. If this feature hasn't been added yet, I may have to explore other platform alternatives to ensure that my customers remain happy, satisfied, and loyal.
