POS Quantity Remaining & Online Quantity remaining not in sync

Hi all, so I am new to Square POS for Restaurants.  We had a situation tonight where we had 5 left of a particular dish.  On the POS you can hold your finger down on the item and input "Qty Left" and that counts down as people order them.  Works well for POS sales.  However, it didnt seem to update the QR ordering or Takeaway menu orders!? Bit alarming?  Even though we updated to 5 left on the POS we still ended up getting more than that coming through Online.  Am I missing something here?  I ended up having to log in on my laptop and marking the item as out of stock.  Is there a better way to deal with this where the items left number is reflected on both the Pos and online?  Hopefully that makes sense. Thanks!

Items marked as sold out on your Point of Sale should sync across to online, and QR code orders placed as well. While we're not able to look into your account more closely via this community forum, our support team would be able to walk through the steps with you over the phone, and try to replicate the issue to raise a ticket with our engineering team. 1. Sign in to your Square account

2. Head to our contact page https://squareup.com/help/au/en/contact

3. Click on any topic, then "I don't see my issue"

4. Click "Message us" or "Email us"

Hi Arie, so just to update you and anyone else on here.  I have been in touch with support and quite astonishingly, there is no link between stock levels online and on the POS.  So first of all, updating stock levels directly from the POS has no link whatsoever to online ie if you mark an item has 2 left on the POS, someone online can order 10!

Secondly, if you do go into the Dashboard and update the stock levels via Items, this will restrict online purchases which is great however there is no link to the POS stock levels so you can unknowingly over order from the POS after sold out!

Cant quite believe it really, its a real let down.  Has anyone else come across this issue, it really unworkable!

Sorry to hear you received some dud advice here, @SpitJack. In your Square Online Overview page, go to Items > Item Sync or Shared Settings > Item Sync. From there, you should be able to see a tick next to all options that sync between your Square Online site, and your Point of Sale.

 

 

Please let us know what this part of your Dashboard looks like!
