Hello Freshflowcar,

Don't get down - we all go through various stages of "what am I doing wrong" and you're not doing anything wrong, the question is what steps can I do improve ?

As for your online presence - just because you have a website does not mean sales, the world has to know you exist and how your services are better than the others.

Here's some basic generic questions as we have no details about your business:

What state are you located in?

Is your business registered with your state? (Meaning anyone can look you up to make sure you're legitimate.)

How many other auto detailing businesses are registered in your state?

Better yet, how many other auto detailing businesses are within a 50 radius of yours?

Do you have your own business website domain and email ?  (Best option ..)

Things to consider ---

Have you contacted any car dealers in your area - new or used - to consider setting up a referral program ?

Local ads are good but, can cost $$$$ as you are aware of and it's hard to determine your ROI.

As for online - how can you get noticed ?

* It's important to note that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to getting your website noticed and increasing sales. If there was, we would all be very happy. You need to experiment with different strategies and track your results to determine what works best for your business.

* Social Media Marketing: Social media can be a powerful tool for promoting your website and increasing sales. Creating engaging content and sharing it on social media platforms can help you reach a wider audience and drive more traffic to your site. Start with the basic social media sites, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Flicker, Pinterest, Google Maps, Google Places for Business and Yelp - the more you get your name out there the better and you can setup these accounts at little or no cost - it's just your time. Take your time and take lots of product pictures or detailed info about your services.

*  Check out activities like local Farmer's Markets or other outdoor events (Craft Shows, Art Shows, Car Shows, etc.) that would fit your needs.

* Content Marketing: Creating high-quality content, such as blog posts, videos, and infographics, can help attract and engage potential customers, leading to increased sales. Both Youtube and Vimeo are great for posting service videos at little or no cost. All you need is a camera, some thought and a little time.

* Email Marketing: Building an email list and sending targeted campaigns to subscribers can help you stay top of mind with potential customers, leading to increased sales over time. Don't spam people, make sure your list of addresses is composed of people that want to hear from you.

* Pay-Per-Click (PPC) Advertising: PPC advertising allows you to place ads on search engines and other websites, targeting specific keywords and demographics. This can help you reach your target audience and increase sales. Note: It's a challenge to determine your ROI when spending money on advertising - choose wisely.

* Search Engine Optimization (SEO): Optimizing your website for search engines can help improve your website's visibility in search results, leading to more traffic and potential sales. This can involve on-page optimization (optimizing website content, tags, etc.) and off-page optimization (building backlinks, guest posting, etc.).

* Take advantage of Google Webmaster Tools and Bing Webmaster Tools.

Just some thoughts of couse ....

Hi @freshflowcar.  Online selling can be frustrating, for sure.  I have an ice cream shop and don’t expect that folks will buy ice cream cones online much.  It is there as a convenience at times we have long lines or long wait times.  So I look at by online presence purely as a marketing tool to get my name out there.

Having said that, I’m not sure this is a worrisome as you do.  Myself, I would not want to book auto detailing online.  I’d probably look at your options and then call you so that I could talk it through.  I’m not sure I’m alone in that, either.  It sounds like you are getting good business through other avenues.

Some things that COULD help?  Create an online booking coupon, especially for clients willing to book multiple visits with one payment/subscription.  Advertise that special on your socials.  Otherwise, setting up a new online presence can take time.  You just have to be patient.

Years ago, we started doing click-through advertising with one of our local web-based news sources.  To this day, those ads are still the best advertising dollars we’ve spent.  The click through drive more traffic to our web site that Google and Yelp in some months!

Best of luck,
