Hi all. We are thinking of using Square online with QR codes for our small, low fee netball club canteen on match days. The reasoning is that with various people volunteering (some kids) I don't want a) my personal iPad being shared around, and b) having to train everyone who may use it.
I have been playing around with it, and it seems from the customer side they must enter an email address and a mobile number before paying. Given the nature of the sales (canteen = small $$ and many visiting parents) is there any way we can remove this requirement?
Hi @PhilJ!
Such a good use of this solution! Personally we haven't used this in our business yet, but I am intrigued (we're a barber shop, and we have an iPad in front of our customers that show off our products in a little slideshow that I actually have been thinking the QR code for self checkout could be a cool addition for).
With that said, I'll do my best to try and help you here.
Have you checked in the 'Customer Inputs' area of Square Online? It's under Settings > Checkout (and then scroll down a bit). I noticed in here you can toggle off the mandatory phone number field, but I can't see an option for email.
Like I said, we haven't used it yet, so I'm just wondering if maybe when its enabled it may add another option to disable email?
Hey @PhilJ,
Thanks for writing in! For online purchases, an email address is required and this isn't something that can be disabled, unfortunately. Customers receive their receipt via email, which also acts as a proof of purchase for your customers to present to you when collecting their order. You can turn off the phone number requirement with the steps @dieterslicke shared 🙂.
ps. I noticed it's your first post, welcome to our community 👋
