Online Items Defaulting to Prepared Food and Beverage Instead of Physical

Until a couple days ago, new items created in Square Dashboard and synced to Online would be set up as a Physical item type. Suddenly, they are being set to "Prepared Food and Beverage" item type, which displays information we don't need. Is there some setting that controls this?

Hey there @Cheesetique this seems to be a change done internally to help those Sellers using our Restaurant Style/ Order now template as the common request was the opposite of what you're requesting today (most of them wanted all the items to be "Prepared Food and Beverage" instead of "Physical"

 

I will pass your feedback and request over to the product team so they consider this setting to be customized by Sellers and the category of their website.

That makes sense. But yes, if that could be customizable by customer that would be great. Sort of like how we can choose default fulfillment method. Thanks!

Same issue here! I have to go through and change the default for all the new items I'm getting in now...any news on this? 

It would be great to get updates on these changes rather then just be suddenly surprised by it seeing that it's not just restaurants using this platform!

This change of behavior was just changed by the team as I mentioned above @Riverdel I recommend you submit a Feature Request here. This will help our product team get visibility and track other Sellers' interest in your request.

 

Important: When submitting a request, make sure to include the desired feature, and provide the details of how this feature will help your business succeed (how would you use it and what you expect from it).
