Online BOGO Sale

I'm setting up a bogo sale on our website.  But I've noticed that the higher priced item will be given as free.  However, most bogo sales I've been at are "the lesser of the two items will be the free item."  Is there anyway this can be changed on our website?

Thanks for clarifying @DebbieatLDD .

Sorry for the confusion, I thought you had created a discount from the Items tab. When creating a voucher/coupon the discount indeed applies to the highest-value item in basket across all selected items or categories. There is no way to change the rule as this time.

For a bit more context:

  • discount can only be created and managed on your Square Dashboard and your Square Point of Sales app. You can set up discount rules and apply the discount to both your POS and your Square Online site.
  • coupon can only be created and managed from the Marketing tab (formerly from Square Online). You can share it direcly with your customer through a Marketing campaign, or share it on your website in a banner for example.

If you're looking at doing a BOGO sale, I recommend creating an automatic discount instead - there is a specific rule BOGO you can set:

  1. Visit Items & Orders > Items > Discounts in your online Square Dashboard.
  2. Click Create a Discount.
  3. Toggle on Automatic Discount.
  4. Click Quantity. Next set your Discount Rule to Buy One, Get One: When a customer buys an item, or an item from a particular category, then the discount will apply. Make sure to set the discount percentage amount to 100%.
  5. Once you add the required quantity for the discount to apply, click Done > Save.

Note that category-based automatic discounts cannot apply to Square Online, and you'll have to manually select individual items of a category.

I hope this helps, but let me know if you have any questions !

Thanks for posting on the Community @DebbieatLDD 👋.

Could you share a screenshot of your entire screen, or walk me through how you create this discount ? I recreated setting up a BOGO discount on my account in Items & Orders > Items > Discounts and the discount applies to lowest priced item:

Hi Lou8,

This is how I set up the code, when using category it says it takes the higher priced item as the free one.

Hi @Lou8

When you set up a coupon for our website, I need to go to Online to items to coupons, then it takes me to this message

DebbieatLDD_0-1737659427807.png

Once I click go to Square Marketing, I get this page

Then I get this screen, I have changed it to category

Since I'm only doing a BOGO free for jeans, I only want to have the customer get free jeans, and nothing else.

There also isn't a rule that they need to purchase jeans in order to get another pair for free.  I did a test sale and I put in my cart a coat and a pair of jeans, and used the bogojeans, and it took out the price of the jeans.  But that's not what I want to happen.  The bogo sale is buy 1 pr of jeans and get another for free.

Can you help?
