No trial option in Square Subscriptions in 2024

Each plan that I try to setup is missing the free trial option. I've searched multiple posts on this topic but none that addressed a missing free trial option. Where can I find that? HamzaKamran_0-1724362997866.png

Hi @HamzaKamran.  Square Subscriptions is a little unique for the ecosystem.  There are no monthly fees.  The only fees are for processing the payments for the subscriptions out customers sign up for.  However, if you want to sell subscriptions in your online store you’ll need to upgrade that to one of the Square Online paid plans, which does have a trial period.  But that’s the only additional monthly fee you’ll have — to upgrade your store to sell subscriptions.

Thank you for your reply. I do not have an online store. I am not opposed to it, but I simply need links/emails to allow parents to buy subscriptions (with discounts/free trials/customizability). Do I need Square online paid plan for that?

Hey again, @HamzaKamran.  Thanks for the clarification.  Unless I missed a memo in the past few months, you can sell subscriptions via payment links in emails, texts, etc, as you wish.  You might need a Square Marketing subscription depending on how you want to share those links if you are doing so in a marketing campaign, however.

Otherwise, you can share those links via any marketing channel you use, Square or not, but just pasting the links into that marketing vehicle.  Links can also be shared via your POS at checkout time, via Virtual Terminal, etc.

Here’s the help document Create and share Square Payment Links that gives more detailed information on how to do these various things.  But none of them seem to incur any charges other than the normal payment processing charges for subscription sales.

Hey @HamzaKamran,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community.

After reviewing my demo account, it seems that the option to offer a free trial isn't available. I've escalated this to our Advanced Support team for further insight. Once we have more information, a Community moderator will reply to this thread.

Thank you for your patience!
