We used to print all of our orders from the Square Online interface. These printed out pretty well with a good formatting of the information. The new 'orders' page we have to use now has zero formatting. It's like all the info is just spit out with no thought to where it should go.
They don't even display the shipping or pick up information so we have to dig well into the order to find this info.
Is there any workaround for this? I already contacted Square but this is critical to our workflow so I'm kind of posting everywhere.
Hi @Speedgraphic !
I'm so sorry it has taken a while to get a response here. That isn't the expectation, so my apologies. I am going to tag a few of my friends who may have some ideas.
@MAXSDELI @Lovewell @Candlestore @TheRealChipA any workarounds or insights here?
I do not use Square Online for my Website which is why I left this alone thinking someone else would give an explanation. I have been working with my Square Retail Catalog the lst 2 days. 1st Day I downloaded my catalog and had reporting Category Column showing as Parent Category > Child Category. Thought this might be a way to see Child Categories through a csv. Today the csv (excel) formats were back to just showing the Reporting Category. So I am not sure if Square engineers are working on something that has your printouts messed up for your orders. What you are reporting does not sound right as not being able to see needed information for an order. The best I can do for this is when I have an Instore order to ship, I have printed out the Order as a PDF. Again this does not give the correct information always or looks a mess. If so, I open Excel and have it Get data from a PDF and use that to setup a better for me Order. This way I have the order to pick and the Receipt Number to show it was paid. Not sure if this might be an option to reorganize the Order from Online before printing it out.
Again this is why I was not answering because it may not be that good time management. I like that I can select all my orders, and say print out an Invoice or packing slip for each order with 2 or 3 clicks.
Unfortunately, this is also out of my wheelhouse. Like @Candlestore my suspicion is that in order to completely control the formatting, various CSV files would need to be exported to Excel and then orders printed from that. But since I don’t use the Orders page very much at all, I’d have to spend more time researching it to be sure. @TCSlaguna is this something you can help with?
For events, we export Orders and filter. I have never really tried printing the Orders page.
I'm wondering if a Chrome screenshot plugin may help. Take screenshot, print page.
@Speedgraphic Let me know if that works for you.
Hey @Speedgraphic,
That sounds frustrating, especially if it's affecting your workflow.
To clarify, are you printing directly from the new Orders page, or are you exporting it first and then printing?
If you can share a screenshot of what you're seeing, so I can further assist.
So here are the two order forms. The first set is the printed directly from the NEW Orders page in Square. I am printing these by simply using the integrated print order function. It seems like it just takes all the info and puts it in a list and spits it out. It's actually difficult to find some info and not everything gets included. The formatting is just...non existent. Then take the second set, printed from Square Online's former Orders page. It's all cleanly presented and readable. You can see how the new system is a big step down.
I've contacted Square directly about this but they never followed up after a couple of rounds of emails.
