New Shipping & Returns Drop-down on Item Page

Hello! I noticed the recent addition of the Shipping & Returns drop-down on item pages. Is there a way to opt out of this? With our size options, gift option, and lengthy product descriptions, this new feature takes up even more space, and I personally feel it is getting quite cluttered. This is only exasperated when you click on the arrow and my entire 346-word policy unfolds into a very narrow column. I understand that this is likely very useful to many users, and I really appreciate all the ways you are trying to enhance our experiences, but for my site, it is rather redundant as I already have a link to a page where I outline those policies in my footer, and the line included above is not really in line with my site's aesthetics.

 

If there is not a way to opt out yet, I would love to see that feature rolled out soon. A simple checkbox or toggle should do the trick. 🙂

 

On a similar note, has the 'select gift option at checkout' feature been added yet? I know that was a recent hot topic, and one that would also aid in de-cluttering that section.

Oh, and one more observation: On the second image I posted above, you can see that the path for that item is showing as Bracelets > Braid Ring. That is clearly not a bracelet, and it is not categorized as such. It does not show on the Bracelets page either. I accessed this page by clicking on it in the Suggested Items list on another item. I have just tried to reproduce this problem, and it is no longer showing as having come from Bracelets. I guess that was a fluke, but certainly a strange one I thought you should be aware of.

Hi @moonflowerm! Thank you so much for this thread and for the screenshots - it really helps in understanding where you're coming from. 

 

We don't have a way to remove the return and store policies from the item page once they are added under settings, but as a workaround you could leave the fields blank and make separate pages for those, then link to them from the footer. This will make the item pages less cluttered, but also keep your policies visible to your customers!

 

As far as the categories question... does this happen with every item, or only this one?

@AshleyK Thank you for your response. If I leave the fields blank, nothing will appear when they are clicked during checkout, correct? That's not really ideal; I like that accessibility there, especially considering you can't access the footer at checkout. Please consider upgrading this new feature to optional. The more options we have regarding our site layouts, the more interesting and individual they will become, as opposed to near-identical.

 

I'm really not sure what to make of that mysterious category issue. I wasn't able to recreate it again with that item or any others, so that's good. Just thought it was worth mentioning. 🙂

@moonflowerm I will definitely share the feedback with the team. If it were up to me, every feature would be released, haha, but I know that they are working to release as many as possible.

Thanks for your help, @AshleyK. I have two more questions for you. I noticed today the addition of the 'How to get it' option on item pages. Is there anyway to opt out of this one, perhaps? We only offer shipping at the moment, so this is irrelevant to my site and only increases the clutter I was already concerned about. I'm really not a fan of how these pages have shaped up.

Secondly, 'Allow gift options' has been unselected on all of my items. I'm not sure why this happened, but since they've been unselected all at once, does that mean it is now possible to turn that back on for every item all at once? I manually selected it for the Braid Ring above to offer a direct comparison to the first image I posted in this thread, but as others have mused, it will be a total pain to go through each item and reselect the gift option.

While we've heard feedback regarding this from other sellers, as of right now, there isn't a way to remove the 'How to get it' from your Square Online checkout. Sorry about that. 

 

Just so I understand your second question - you're wondering if there's a way to turn on gift options for all items at once, rather than manually for each individual item? Let me know 🌟

@isabelle I don't understand the logic of rolling out new features without allowing them to be optional, especially when they are not relevant to every website. They are complete eyesores. Unfortunately, the additions of two such features this week has me considering a different eCommerce platform. I love Square but the Online Store is devolving into something other than what I purchased initially.

 

And yes, I am wondering if it is possible yet to turn gift options on for all items at once, rather than manually for each individual item. Thank you.

What about changing the wording of "How to get it"?

I have tried and no success. I would like a little better wording such as "Delivery Method"

So If there is no way to remove the shipping and returns drop down please please someone help me how do I edit what is writing in the drop down. I have changed my shipping costs however it won’t change on this particular spot and it’s driving me insane trying to workout how to do it. Please help.
