Hi, I am trying to find out the best way to set up my menu. For example, I have a 1 Scoop ice cream cone. In-store, I do not need to know flavors & toppings because we have already made the item before checkout, but when a customer orders online, I need to require modifiers for Flavors & Toppings.
What is the best way to accomplish this? I figure I can create two items, one for in-store without the modifiers & one for online orders, that has the modifiers, but I am not sure if there is a better way.
Hello @cdelord2 !
The easiest answer is to ignore the modifiers for in store usage. As long as you don't have any requirements on selection counts, you and your team can just add the item to the cart. I do this for all the optional addons for drinks in my coffee shop. They're all there but not required so the majority of the time we skip it.
If you require a selection, then your best bet is to create separate items for your online store. Square allows modifiers to be turned off for online environments but not the point of sale. I would create a base 1 Scoop item for store use and leave your current items for online. Do note that if you run inventory through Square this will cause problems, and I haven't figured out a way around that yet. 😞
