I am wondering if anyone can tell me if Square has a template that we can use for privacy policy and for other legal information required for the websites please? Thxs

Hi @Karla1 👋

Thanks for writing in with this question!

Can you share an example of the type of template you're referring to? While we don't have a template, you could consider adding your returns policy to your website footer. You can also display accepted payment methods, and more in your footer - take a look at this guide to customising your footer.

Hey there, @sarahjaneyyoga and @Karla1, just jumping in here while @Arie is out of the office! 👋

You can view Square's Privacy Policy for Sellers here and Square's Information Collection Policies here

In terms of Square Online security, you can learn more about this under the SSL (Secure Socket Layer) section of this online Support Article. To summarise, SSL is enabled by default within 24-48 hours of publishing your Square Online site. This encrypts the data that goes from a user’s computer to your Square Online site and back. You can tell a website is secure by looking at the uniform resource locator (URL) of the website. A secure URL should begin with “https” rather than “http.” The “s” in “https” stands for secure, which indicates that the site is using a Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) Certificate.

To answer your questions, if you are only collecting information via the contact form on Square Online, then Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service are sufficient in this case. Should you plan on accepting additional information for the purpose of sending marketing communications to your customers, you will need to review our best practices for Customer Information Collection.

I hope this helps to provide some more context! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thank you for that information. Are we able to use it on our website to be able to cover our responsibility and legalities of a business website?

Hi again @Karla1,

Certainly - you can copy the policy to include on your website, or paraphrase sections of the policy as required.

If you're looking for different ways to add content to your site, we recommend reviewing this Support Article for some additional tips!

Adding on from this... @Arie do I require my own privacy policy or am I covered by the Google Privacy Policy which is written under where people can put in their emails for my newsletter? If I need my own privacy policy, does Square have a template/document I can use? Thanks.
