Is square online any good?

I've been using Square for 3 years now and the online side of it still seems poor by comparison to the POS in store. Customers still have to remove the 0 from the start of the phone number, paypal defaults to US not UK - weebly/square just seem to put stumbling blocks in front of sales and makes the online store feel slow and poor. I'm sure we've lost a lot of sales from this. Thinking of moving to Shopify but it's stacks of work? Anyone else having issues???

I know this post is aimed at other Square Sellers, but I thought I'd just quickly share some insights from Squares end, and then let you continue with your assessment.

I appreciate the feedback and that you've been a loyal customer for the last few years, and I'm sorry to hear that you feel the online platform is not as adept as the in-person platform.

We recognise that some customers may have to remove the leading zero from their phone numbers and that this can be a hassle and lead to a poor user experience. Our engineering team are aware of this and are actively working on improving our form.

Regarding PayPal, can you give me some more details on your comment? Do you mean the currency defaults to dollars?

Hi, yes the paypal didn't default to the UK version and was trying to force the customer to put in ZIP codes and US state, no option was given for country selection. 

 

The whole thing just seems clunky for customers compared to shopify's easy login across all shop sites we've lost sales due to to processing problems customers have particularly on devices. People want quick and simple - this isn't it.

I’m just following up on this for Breffni while she is out of office. 


Although PayPal is a supported payment method through Square Online, any settings such as currency would be managed directly from your connected PayPal account.


For help with anything PayPal related (other than connecting it as a payment processor to Square Online), we'd suggest that you reach out to the PayPal support team directly, as they would be best placed to advise further on this.
