This reply was created from merging an existing thread: Is it possible to limit the amount of orders placed online within a certain time frame?
Our coffee shop was bombarded with online orders all at once and everyone coming to pick them up all at once. It overloaded our staff and became extremely hard to keep up and get our guests served in a timely manner. Is it possible to limit the amount of orders that come in within 15min, 30min or an hour?
Hey @CoatCheckCoffee and others! I've got an update on this feature 💥
We've just launched Order Staggering for Square Online Store, which lets sellers set the number of orders they can take every 15 minutes (so that they don't get flooded with too many orders at once that they can't fulfill).
This can be found in our dashboard > Settings > Pickup & Delivery > select a location > edit Hours.
Let me know if you have any questions about this, or any additional feedback regarding this update 💡
Yep, I’ve spoken to support and my rep about it.
They said they were aware of the problem but didn't have a timeline for a fix.
Hi @porqueno!
Okay, sorry about that. I did confirm that scheduled pickups are ignored if you are using order staggering. It’s not broken so much as this just wasn't made exactly clear when the feature was launched. We're aware of it, and will post an update when we hear something regarding this feature/issue. Thanks for your time and for your patience.
There are bugs with this feature, while it is helpful feature, during rushes the pick times get out of order when we get up to the 45 min pick up time slot they will revert back to 15 min instead of giving 1 hour pick up time, we’ve been dealing with this since the feature launched but today was really tough and threw us of coarse please get this bug fixed ASAP!
We have this set to 2 orders every 15 minutes and a 45 prep time for or restaurant and it actually does not work. We got 6 orders at 6pm last week. I am using the exact screen below. Any advice?
Do you have the option for people to choose their pickup time turned on? The two features do not work together. I really hope they're fixing this. We've also found that in times of high demand, it will let through more orders than it's supposed to, and in some cases it has oversold items that we've had a count on. In short, very buggy...
We do as they wouldn't like being assigned. Good to know why that is happening. Thanks for the response and yes, would love for that to get fixed!
I agree. We'd LOVE for our customers to be able to choose their pickup time, but we have to limit the number of orders in a time slot or we'd be overwhelmed during the dinner rush. I'd ALSO love to limit orders to same-day only (currently, if you have choose a pickup time turned on, they can choose any time in the future...but if you don't, it pushes them out to the next available pickup time on a future date once your orders fill up for the night).
I only see hours not an area to change how many orders...
@DVRanch Is this the option you're toggling on?
We are getting hit with a ton of sandwich orders all at once during peak hours--is there a way to limit the number of orders that come in during certain days and hours?
Sure can! Online Store has a Staggered Ordering feature that allows you to limit the amount of orders placed in a given time.
Learn more on this thread I moved your post to.
The title of this thread has been edited from the original: I need to set up a way to pre-sell burgers in 15 minute time slots. 20 burgers per 15 minutes. Help!
Assuming you're taking online orders, toggle on the Order Staggering feature which limits the amount of orders in a given time frame.
Check out this thread for details. @BadLarry
I would like to be able to change the parameters of the order limiting when we are getting too many online and walk in customers. Right now the lowest frequency I can create is 1 order every 15 minutes. I'd like to change the 15 minute option to a higher number ins read of having to turn off online ordering so we can keep up.
Hi @Tarra32 Thanks for posting!
It's not possible to change the 15 minute time frame at this time. I moved your post over to this thread so we can keep track of the feedback for the feature. 😊
I am following this thread - our situation is that we can make 20 pizza dough balls per day. We have enough topping to make a variety of pies, so it doesn't work that well to use inventory for each pizza flavour. Currently we are using the limit to 2 pies per order and limiting ordering slots to 10 per day, but that would leave money on the table if some people are only ordering one pizza. We need to be able to limit the total quantity of items by category and by day. Help!
Thank you for the context @shivkumoto.
At the moment, the parameters mentioned in this thread remain the same. I understand how having more customizable options would be beneficial.
If we have any updates, we'll be sure to update this thread!
