Hi Everybody.
Any advice with this topic would be gratefully received.
I am a mobile cater selling burgers. Effectively I sell variations of a theme, IE I sell beef pattys with various toppings. I only really need stock control on the burgers not the toppings.
What I'd like to do is control by stock across all burgers not individually as they doesn't really make sense. Ideally I would say for example I have 50 burgers to sell tonight and it doesn't matter what variation of burger sells (cheese burger, bacon burger, etc) just that I have 50 across all burger types not 8 cheese, 12 bacon...
I hope I've explained that well enough!
Long story short, is it possible to control the inventory at a 'group' level (burger) rather than an individual product level (cheese burger)?
Many thanks in advance to all that read and try to assist.
You can create multiple sets of modifiers I believe so that you can continue using them as you were @Woobs, but this would be the best option in terms of stock control.
Glad this helped, if anything comes up just let me know 🙂
Hi @Woobs, thanks for your post and welcome to the Seller Community 🙂
I'd suggest taking a look at creating item modifiers to achieve what you are looking for. Modifiers are used as customisable options – toppings, add-ons or special requests, etc. Modifiers cannot be stock tracked.
For example, your item will be Burgers, which will have stock tracking but your modifiers of the burger (cheeseburger, bacon burgers) will be like a subheading of the burger and stock will not be tracked.
You can find the steps to set up modifiers in the article I linked above.
Please have a look and let me know if this might work for you, I created it quickly on my own account and here's how it turned out:
Hi @Breffni .
Many thanks for taking the time to reply. Yes I can certainly see how this would work for me.
Currently I use modifiers to allow people to remove or add individual items to a burger but I never considered using them to control the types of burgers available.
I will have a play.
Many thanks.
Kind regards
Woobs
