I'm having a problem with my lisings and stock quanties. What's up?

I can list an item for sale, but it shows up on my website as "out of stock".  If I remove that I have 0 items available in stock then it will then show up as for sale on my website, but they can select as many as they want of that 1 item I have for sale.  Everything is backwards now on listening items for sale.  What's up?  I was with online chat and they told me that Square did a lot of updates recently.  Is that where the problem is with my listings now?  I sell only single items, so I have to list the stock as only 1, which I can't do now.

HI @TeresaJewelry ,

OK, let's start with the basics.  Do you have "Tracking" enabled?  IF so, have  you "received stock"?

If so, you will need to select a reason, and then enter the number of 1 (in your case)

There is a very simple way to go through and bulk correct all of the stocks to 1 by doing an "item export" of your library.   If you are interested in this, please let me know and I'll show you some steps on how to do that.

Let me know if you have these basics covered, and if so, we will go on to some "strange" things it could be.

Good luck.

I've tried that too.  When I turn on tracking the listing switches to "out of stock" on my website.  I've also tried 3 different browsers with no luck.  If I turn off tracking then it will switch to for sale with 0 stock.

OK @TeresaJewelry .  Thanks for the update.

After making this change, did you "republish" your item page on your website?   I'm wondering if the item updated in the database, but didn't have time or didn't automatically sync to the website.   This would theoretically do that.  Maybe give that a try?

We are not having any issues with our website stock.  I'm wondering does your item show the stock like in the red box or green box below?

All items in my item library ALWAYS shows 1 in stock (the green box), even if I changed it to 0 in stock and turn off tracking (never in a pink circle).  After doing that and I "republish" my webpage it is not showing "out of stock" anymore and is available for sale, but anyone can purchase 1 or 10 of them.

I can't sell anything unless this is fixed somehow...  if I list a NEW item for sale it is listed as "out of stock" as soon as I list it!  Why did you upgrade/update the website??  It was working great.  I can't even EDIT on the edit site page, BUT the edit link is still there!  The edit window will pop up but nothing can be changed now.

I have to EDIT in the item library only now, but it will not transfer/change on my edit site page when I ADD an item I just created in the library.

@TeresaJewelry ,   I hate to ask this question now, but which version of Square are using?  Are you using Square POS, or Square for Retail?  If Square for Retail, which version (regular, plus)?

My Square for Retail is working as designed.  I'm only showing out of stock for things that have a zero balance, and I can't sell any of the out of stock online.

I'm using the app.squareup.com/dashboard website in my computer browser, not my cell phone.  I don't see anything about a version?  It's the free version where I pay for each sale with a fee.

Something new this morning...  I can turn off the LOW STOCK ALERT and add 1 in stock for sale in the image library and it then shows 2 in stock and 1 available for sale.  This also removes the OUT OF STOCK on my listings for the moment.  We'll try this for a while and see how it goes...

I'm wondering @TeresaJewelry if the issue is somehow related to the "free" version, as I'm usine Retail Plus and am not having any issues.

I've never had any problems since I started selling until 2 weeks ago.  I listed a bracelet and it marked 6 others on the same page as OUT OF STOCK.  I sold 3 bracelets, but could have sold more if the website worked!  Now i'm listing items in the library and it is showing 1 on hand and 0 available for sale, and it will list it as OUT OF STOCK.  This is TOO many problems all at once.  How can this be fixed???

Is this problem just with the FREE version??  If it is, why?  I pay fees when I sell something to Square.

This morning i'm in the ITEM LIBRARY making edits, and after editing 3 items now i'm getting that the item is not available or has been deleted.  WHY????  It's IN the library!

HI @TeresaJewelry ,

There are multiple additional, more in-depth features in the paid version of Square.  Yes, we all pay Square fees to process the cc payment, but the software development for the POS functionality requires that Squares pays their staff to develop the software.  We end-users pay for that functionality for more advanced functions.

With that being said, I'm still uncertain if your issues is related to the free version, and I recommend that you call in to Tech Support to verify.  As I previoiusly mentioned, I am not seeing your issue, but I'm on the paid version of Square for Retail (and Restaurant).

Good luck and let us know what you find out.
