The title of this thread has been edited from the original: Two inventories one online store.
Good afternoon.
We have two store locations, so two inventories and one website, all through Square.
It seems with the website if I am just selling through our original store then the stock is available and when sold the stock is reduced but when I add from our second store it shows "out of stock" so I have to add stock to both locations, this then means that once the item is sold it takes it from the incorrect stores stock.
How am I able to have both stores and their respective inventory on our website so that when it is sold it takes it from the correct store.
This has come up because we are holding workshops in either store, one in the morning and the other in the afternoon. Rye is our original store with Tenterden opening last year. If I put the workshop on in Rye it is fine and shows stock, if I try to just put Tenterden on it shows as out of stock. The only workaround I can see is to have stock in both locations but this then shows twice as much available and takes from Rye's stock not Tenterden.
Hopefully some of the above makes sense.
Thanks for reading, Jason
Hi @Ethellovesme,
Thanks for reaching out. Sorry to hear about this issue!
I've taken a look at your website, and I see what you mean. I've gone ahead and escalated your case to our Square Online team for further investigation. As soon as I have more news to share with you, I'll reach back out to you here.
Thank you for your patience in the meantime. 😊
Thanks for your patience, @Ethellovesme.
Our team has had a look at your site items, including the sold out event at your Tenterden location, and they believe it's marked as sold out due to now being past the event date.
Do you have any other items currently listed as sold out on your website that:
- Have the site toggled on for channel visibility,
- Are marked as Visible,
- Have a Fulfilment Method set (e.g., Pickup, Shipping etc),
- Have sufficient stock?
If there are any, please reply with the names of these items, and I'll have the team look at these items specifically.
Thank you - I'll keep an eye out for your reply. 🙂
Hi Katie.
Thanks for coming back to me.
Looking at the one that is sold out, that has happened because I did not have Rye down for stock, I have added Rye back in and now it is not sold out. My issue seems to be that it is Choosing Rye over Tenterden which is fine when we have a workshop in Rye but if we have one in Tenterden I have to add stock into Rye. That then means it puts the sale through Rye.
I have left the workshop you mentioned above being sold out with Rye now having stock, ,it is not showing sold out now.
Hope that makes sense.
All the best,
Jason
Hi @Ethellovesme,
Thank you for that information! I've passed this along to our team, and will get back to you as soon as I hear more.
Thanks - talk soon!
Hi @Ethellovesme,
I've heard back from our Advanced Support team, and they'd like to know whether you have any other online items currently experiencing this issue? Specifically, non-event items, or event items where the event date is in the future?
Thank you, I'll keep an eye out for your reply. 🙂
Hi Katie.
I assume it must be something to do with our two shops.
I have just tested it on an item where I have said it is only stocked in Tenterden, https://www.ethelloves.me/s/shop towards the bottom of page is Heather Orr Rust Rafia Lantern. Originally it was pout on the system in both shops, now that I have made it only available in Tenterden it comes up with an error when you click on it - https://www.ethelloves.me/product/heather-orr-rust-rafia-lantern/7103?cp=true&sa=true&sbp=false&q=fa... page 404 error. This hasn't come up before as we tended to put Rye's stock on the website. I will leave it as it is at the moment so that you can look at it.
All the best,
Jason
Thanks @Ethellovesme! I've shared this with the team for review, so please keep it as is for now. 🙂
I'll be back soon with an update!
Hi @Ethellovesme,
Thanks for your patience!
Looking at your website, I'm now able to add the Heather Orr Rust Rafia Lantern to my cart and choose Tenterden as the location. Initially, I received a 404 error, but this resolved once I cleared my cookies and cache.
Just wanted to confirm you're no longer having any issues with items at this location? If there's anything else I can assist with, let me know!
Hi Katie.
I am still having the same issue with the events, for the Tenterden event I had to add stock to Rye to allow it to not have "out of stock" So I just made the stock location Tenterden only, cleared my history and went back to events (15th April) and now it is showing out of stock when I have stock, albeit it in Tenterden?
Sorry this is turning out to be much more involved than I had hoped.
All the best,
Jason
Hi @Ethellovesme,
Because the event date of April 15th has now passed, it's hard for our team to investigate this item specifically because the event date could also be causing stock issues. Do you have any other events coming up that we could look at as an example?
Hi Katie.
I thought I had replied to this but it is not here, so sorry for the delay. I do not think the date is the issue as I have only changed the one event as the others are showing okay with the stock in both stores
Hi @Ethellovesme,
Thanks for following up!
While the other workshop items are still showing up without being marked as out of stock, it's not possible to add them to the cart or purchase them as the dates have passed.
Unfortunately, because we're past the date of the event, there won't be any way to update the stock for the Tenterden workshop event.
You could try setting the location for the April 15th event to All Locations instead of just Tenterden and re-publish your site to see if this will resolve the out of stock notice. This would then match the settings of the April 8th event. Since customers can't add the event item to the cart now that the date has passed, this could potentially resolve the 'out of stock' notice without having to worry about any stock implications. If after updating the location and re-publishing you find the same issue, you could try turning off stock tracking for the item all together.
If you have any upcoming events at Tenterden, and you see the same stock issues for future dates, please let me know and I'll have our team investigate further.
