How to add a 3% fee or tax to a non-physcial item that is sold online

I have a non-physical item I am selling online. I want to add an extra 3% fee to the cart upon checkout. Is this possible? The only way I have seen is to add Sales Tax, but it doesn't let me customize that tax but rather adds the sales tax based on jursidictcion. I do not want that, I want a simple 3% charge on the cart if this particular item is in the cart

To add more color, when checking out a customer on the Point of Sale app, the 3% tax is added correctly there. However if a customer goes to purchase it online, the 3% does not get added at checkout there.

I don't believe there's any options or features to do what you have in mind however, Square does have something called a "Service Charge".   Check out the details here - that may or may not work for your needs.   Note, the other option would be to increase the item price.

Do service charges have to be manually applied? I don't see anything about them being automatically applied to an online checkout

Ah i see, thanks. That won't work either becuase "When creating a service charge, you can automatically apply the service charge to Square Online orders fulfilled via pickup, delivery, or QR code ordering". My item is delivered via email so doesnt fulfil any of those options. This is a bummer. I am just confused as to why it works on the POS app but not when a customer buys from online. Seems silly
