How do I require customer name during online checkout?

We sell a lot of event tickets through our online store (www.woodburngames.com) and are struggling to ensure customers are entering their names and not just their email address. This is causing problems with staff checking in attendees to the event since we only have an email address and not names.

Is there a way to require customer name without requiring full address information?

Go to Square Dashboard → Online → Website → Website Settings → Checkout and look for the Customer Inputs / Customer Information section.

That’s where Square lets you control what information customers provide at checkout. I would check whether First Name and Last Name can be enabled/required there without turning on shipping/address collection.

Since these are event tickets and not physical products, you should not have to require a full shipping address just to collect the attendee’s name.

If the name fields are already enabled but customers are still checking out with only an email address, I’d contact Square Support because that would suggest the checkout settings aren’t being enforced correctly.

Below is a link to Manage checkout options for Square.

I also need to collect attendee names for my events so I tried this but for me, under customer inputs, I can only ask for their address not their name.

One possible workaround would be to enable “Allow customer to leave a note to seller” and ask customers to enter the attendee name there, but unfortunately that field would not be required, so it still wouldn’t guarantee that everyone enters it.

I haven't found a way to change the text to say, please leave attendee name here, on the note to seller space. Do you know if there is a way?

My events have always auto included the name when they signed up/checked out for the event.  Is yours not capturing the client's name? Are they skipping creating an account?

Its capturing the name of the buyer but I do events with children so I also need the attendee name as well as the buyer. I can't find a way for that to be added or change the text on the comments box to say, 'Please advise of attendee name here:'
