I have been using Weebly for years for our nonprofit website. Now, for the first time I am having issues with the Domains Tab on my Weebly page. I am getting the following error:
I have tried all the different issues that the AI chat has provided to fix this, to no avail. I have also searched for a direct contact to have this addressed, with no success. I have emailed Weebly and got a response, but now (because of an error with another provider) my website remains down and I need the IP address and other DNS record info from the Domains Tab, but am not getting a response again from support.
Additionally, what's the deal with my account being moved to Square? We're a nonprofit that sells nothing and I'm not sure how to make sense of this merger. We don't sell anything and just need the website. Having to work with Square feels like entering on another world for me, and I'm tempted to move on to somewhere else once I have this issue resolved.
Thanks for your support,
Betsy
Hey @OurHopeSA
There is this other forum post where someone had technical issues with Weebly. They were told to call Square Support at 855-700-6000 and follow the prompts for Online/Weebly support. I'd give that a try and ask them to escalate the issue with your Domains tab.
Also since your nonprofit doesn't sell anything, a pure website builder/hosting provider might be a better choice long term.
Hi Betsy, if the Domains tab is erroring, you may not need it to get your DNS info. Your DNS records are visible from outside: lookup.icann.org shows who your registrar is, and a free DNS checker (search "dnschecker") shows the A record and nameservers your domain points to right now. That is usually the IP you need to give your other provider.
Two things worth doing while support is slow: in the editor go to Settings > General > Archive to download a ZIP of your published site (blog posts are not included), and screenshot your current domain settings if any page still loads. If the domain was registered through Weebly, ask support for the transfer authorization code in writing so you keep the option to move later.
Since you only need a plain nonprofit site, you are not stuck with Square's store tools. Once the site is back up, the archive plus your text and images is enough to rebuild elsewhere.
