How do I hide an event from the online store?

I have set up an event that we will be attending but I don't want it to show up in my online store. I do want it to show up under my Events page, however. I can't figure out how to hide it from the store without also hiding it from the Events page.

Hello there @SusiS

The best way to accomplish this would be to set your event as hidden when editing the item. This way the item won't be visible under your Shop All but will be visible on your Event Section.

I hope this information is helpful! P.S. Welcome to the Seller Community

Once an event item is set to hidden from the Item Editor, it appear across your whole site regardless of page.

Are you looking to feature the event details on your Events navigation page without the ability to buy tickets?

If I set it to hidden, it does not show up on the Events page. It is a free event open to the public so there are no tickets to be sold.

Hey @Rrraven

Thank you for clarifying what you would like to accomplish with your event. It sounds like you want to track tickets without actually selling them. If you want your item/event to show on your website, you can create the item with a price of $0.00. This way your attendees can get a ticket without having to pay.

Please let me know if this worked for you?

Hi, thanks for the reply! There aren't even actual tickets to the event. Basically I just want to show my audience that hey, I'm going to be at this event that's free to the public so stop by and say hi (and hopefully buy something haha), but not have it as an "item" for sale. Does that make sense? I don't want events where I'm doing local sales to show up in my shop, but I still want them on an events page or events section only, so that people can see events I'll be participating in.

I did manage to chat with customer support the other day and they explained that there's no way to do this currently, so hopefully it's something Square can implement in the future.

Hi @hautehoarderxx - Thanks for following up on this thread.

I reached out to the Square Online team about this feature request but they do not have an ETA for implementation of this feature. You can currently use the workaround provided by @JJ_ which has been marked as the Best Answer to this question.

To learn more about how feature requests work, please see this post from one of our Seller Community Moderators. In the meantime, keep an eye out for any updates in our Seller Community.

We appreciate your input! 🙂

 Hi ,

I have created a page for my up and coming events on my new store website. To create the event I had to create an Item. However now that Item/event appears in my online store/Shop all . How can remove the event from my "shop all" but still keep it on my events page. i just want physical objects on my shop .

Hope that makes sense.

Thanks

Hey @thenappywork-

Thanks for posting in the Seller Community.

As of right now, there isn’t really a way to do that directly, though you could set the visibility of the event items to “hidden”, and then link to them individually on a regular page. Hidden items won’t show on the Shop All page but can still be linked to.

If you have any questions about this, I would encourage you to give us a call.

Hi! If you set available items to "Hidden", where do you find the link to share with people to find that hidden product?

I am using Square as my art website. I have exhibitions that I am featured in and add those as events.  However, the event is showing up in the "Shop All" items and I don't want it to. I use the "Shop All" as my gallery for art and the events really don't belong in there.

Any advice?

TIA😁

Thanks very much.  That was helpful to get the events out there.  However, nearly all of my events do not have a ticket fee or need tickets. They are open art events.  The lightbox puts in the price (which was required to add the event and have it show up) and says the "store is not accepting payments". Any thoughts on how to get rid of that?

At this time Events added to the item library will need to have a price entered @SusiS. My understanding is that leaving it at 0 should not be a problem.

If you find problems doing that you will want to reach out to our Square Online support team for them to assist with this. When you have a moment, please reach out directly by logging into your Square account and heading here.
