Get order notification

Our restaurant menu is actually online and our customers are placing orders, which is great!

The issue is that we only receive notification via email and not on the app or Square PoS.

 

We already enable 'New Store Order" on weebly app. But we do not receive any notification.

No push up, No sound, Nothing. On the tablet, on the phone. Neither with Square app or Weebly app.

It is a little bit anoying when we have a customer showing up for a pick up and we're not aware off that. This is the oposite of what we want to offer using square ordering/weebly.

 

Email notification doesn't work for restaurant management use. 

We need a real time notification through the app. 

Can you please give me a solution for that?

That doesn't sound right...

 

The notifications for the POS app is only going to work while the actual app is open. If it's not working for the Weebly app, we suggest deleting and reinstalling the app itself, then checking your notification settings on your iPad. Please let us know if those methods work. Hello. I have a new home bakery and am wondering if there is a way to enable an alert for new orders through the app? I am completely online and working off of an iPad and iPhone.

Hey @EnchanteMacs - By default, alerts will be enabled but you can disable or adjust how often you’re notified of new orders within Settings > Orders

 

However, alerts are only going to work while the actual app is open.

Is a way being worked on for users to get notifications without the app being open? It’s a bit inconvenient and not really feasible to have the app continuously open and running on an iPad/iPhone in this type of situation. Although it seems like brick & mortar places are having the same problem.

I have the Weebly app installed on my phone to alert me because it made a cash register sound then I would check the Square app. Now I can't log into the Weebly app anymore for some reason and so no notification happens except an email, or a little sound when you OPEN the Square app, which is really inconvenient when someone orders for a pickup.

 

You basically have to check your email or the Square app constantly or you miss an order and someone shows up looking for their pickup. Is it really too much to ask that a sound notification to go off when the app isn't being looked at? Just a huge oversight!! This is Covid times, people!! Support your merchants just trying to get by the best they can! Pickup orders are a big part of that.

We are a brick and mortar using the app for in house online orders... But the problem is that the order alert notification SOUND is extremely low and can't be customized. I set app notifications up and the pop-up appears but the audible signal rings ONCE is extremely low, can't be adjusted to a different ringer or volume, and can't be set to repeat. This is a seemingly small but grievous oversight for taking online PICKUP orders, and one that should be an easy fix, borrowing the model from similar apps like Uber and GrubHub. Imagine if we had phones that didn't ring? This is just as damaging.

 

Any plans to address this?

I spent an hour and a half on the phone with support yesterday and they say it's still not available for a louder notification like Doordash... I'm about ready to move to a different POS system just because of this. We have at least one order a day missed/delayed because no one heard the receipt printer and no one was at the register for the notification to come through....
