Featured Category/Items directs to underlying categories page

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help. 

I am trying to create a simple home page for a few simple products, but having difficulty. 

I tried using the Featured Category section and when I click on the Wool Products category, it brings me to this page https://wildberry-farm-nh.square.site/s/order?shipping=true#3X5WJEHLZBBTYEGYBZFNOPEY with no products listed and a totally different category. 

Then I tried using the Featured Item page which results in a pop-up for the product but underneath the pop-up is the same page. It appears to be the default "Shop Now" page which would be fine except it lists categories that I have deleted (Berries, Gift Boxes to name a few). 

I have checked the redirect and caching, and unpublished my site several times and nothing seems to fix this. I'm not sure where to look. I did downgrade to the free service and perhaps that is the issue. But I don't sell enough to warrant an annual $300 subscription.

Hi @berries-fleece! I’d be happy to help you troubleshoot this.

First, before we work on the site navigation, let’s review your item categories, since outdated or unused categories can continue to appear on your Square Online site.

1. Review and manage your categories
On your Square Dashboard, go to Items & services > Items > Categories. From here, you can remove any categories you no longer use.

2. Check which items are assigned to each category
Make sure the items you want to appear online are added to the correct categories. If you’ve previously transferred categories from Square Online, some items may appear in more than one category, feel free to remove duplicates as needed.

About your site setup

I had a look at your website and noticed you’re currently using the Order Online (Restaurant features) template. This layout is designed for restaurants and will always direct customers to a single ordering page with item detail pop-ups, regardless of whether you feature items or categories on your home page.

If you’d prefer a more traditional retail browsing experience with item photos and full item pages (instead of pop-ups), the Shop All (Retail features) template may be a better fit.

To preview the difference: in your Online Dashboard, go to Edit site, choose the Home page from the dropdown menu at the top, scroll to the Online menu section, click the three dots, and select Switch template.

If you'd to stick with the current site template, we can also add an Order page to your main site navigation so customers can easily be directed to this page when landing on your home page. The experience would look something like:

- Visitors land on your home page with your banner, events, gift ideas, and Instagram feed.

- The top navigation includes: Order Now, About Us, and Farm Life.

- Selecting Order Now takes customers to a clean items page organised by category.
