Feature Request: Turn online store on/off from POS

Hi,

 

I would really really really like a way to be able to turn online ordering on/off from the POS (Square Register at the moment). My options right now when my store gets super busy are either my employees have to contact me and I need to go disable ordering or I give them full access to my Square dashboard on a tablet/laptop which is absolutely not acceptable as that allows access to payrolls, sales data, banking info, etc. This is an important enough feature that I'm starting to look at non-Square options after 7 years of using it. 😕

That would be an awesome feature! Depending on your POS system, you could be able to turn off individual items on and off. For us we use the newer POS with restaurant plan and we can turn on and off items when they are out of stock. It also works on our Square KDS.

Yes, Square we are having the same problem!!!  When we are super busy and online orders are flying in, I have no time to stop cooking, pull out my computer, log in and turn off online orders to give my kitchen a break.  Or if I'm not there, have my employees calling me to do it on the fly on my phone. It should be an easy update to add it under settings on the actual POS system?!  PLEASE CONSIDER THIS OPTION!  It seems like a no-brainer feature.

Please prioritize creating a way for the online store to be turned ON and OFF at the POS! My staff at the food truck have to rely on someone with a computer to do this (an owner back at the home office) and we're about ready to find another system because we've waited 6+ years for this basic feature. The Weebly back end is quirky and sometimes we think it's on - and then, like Wednesday this week - the online store ends up not accepting orders the entire day and staff doesn't notice because they're busy helping in-person customers. If my employees could just turn this ON/OFF at the POS, it would keep us from losing business and greatly improve our efficiency. You've added many other very useful features over the last few years (like the ability to mark items SOLD through the POS, to change prep times after the order comes in, etc.), but this one is CRITICAL to running our business efficiently. Thank you!

Thanks - I recently joined Beta. My only concern is if Beta features start popping up and my employees have to deal with instability at the POS during service when I'm not there to troubleshoot. Otherwise, we're happy to have early access to useful features. 🙂

Hi,

 

We are having the same issue before. But I think right now the POS has the option where you can set the prep time from 15 minutes to all the way to 12 weeks. It's the clock icon on the upper right-hand corner of your order page. Not sure if this will help with your situation. But it sure did with us. Now customers can see their pick-up time and they have the option of canceling if they wish.

Yes, this was another much needed feature added in the last year - the ability to set the estimated prep time from the POS rather than the computer. We use it all the time on busy days and our awesome employees can do it themselves on the fly! 🙂

 

(BTW, this feature, like many other upgrades, just magically appeared one day - it would be great to have a heads-up on these changes.)

Just seeing this now and sent a request to join! Assuming it's still in beta and not a released feature? If it is released, how do we get to it on the POS? Thanks!

It's live now. If you look at the Orders screen on your POS, there should be a little clock in the upper right corner. Click on that and you can enable busy mode or pause online orders completely.
